SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantIf lebron goes to the cavs…
how much better do you think he could make wiggins? Anyone have a feeling Lebron will make wiggins a super star. Wiggins has a chance to be the luckiest #1 pick in nba history.

gbmantisParticipantPippen 2.0

GrandmamaParticipantOffensively Wiggins will never be a Pippen type. Pippen was a point-forward who had great handles and vision. Wiggins just isn’t that same caliber of play-maker with the ball in his hands. On defense Wiggins should become a star, but offensively he just doesn’t compare to Pippen one bit.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantPeople forget 2 things about Pippen. First, at his small school, D2, he was the PG on offense and the best big man on defense. He did everything at a high level and that’s why he was drafted. PG court vision with great defensive and rebounding instincts. Second, he played in the Triangle for his prime years. The Triangle requires that all guards have great passing skills. This put Pippen in what would be considered the PG role more often than not.
So, I agree, he will never be Pippen. Similar body types and athleticism but not similar play styles at all. I expect Wiggins to spend most of this year as a spot up shooter. Was that ever Pippens role?

Chilbert arenasParticipantDoes anyone else think there might actually be more pressure put on Wiggins since expectations will go from rebuilding to championship or bust?

hbomb3300ParticipantI don’t buy that it would somehow put more pressure on him. It would defenitly take a lot of pressure off, he won’t have to handle the ball much, and can just stick to what he’s good at: defense, transition, set shooting, and cutting. I like the Pippen comparison, except a shooting guard version. He can have a great rookie year just playing hard and making a decent amount of open 3s.

GrandmamaParticipantLebron would definitely help in the development of Wiggins. How much? Obviously nobody can answer that, but he would for sure help.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI don’t think they keep Wiggins if LeBron signs there. I think that he would be the bare minimum Flip Saunders would be demanding in a trade for K-Love, and I don’t think Cleveland would be too hard pressed to do a Wiggins for K-Love trade(obviously with other contracts involved to fix salary)

drpg913ParticipantThis makes sense. I have been thinking that this whole time. You think Lebron is terribly excited to play with Wiggins? He’s never played an NBA game. He’s played with and against Love for 6 years now. Flip Saunders is no fool Dion Waiters isn’t enough to get Love from Minnesota and neither is Bennett.

gbmantisParticipantCavs would be better with Wiggins than with Love IMO. With Wiggins and Bron defending on the wings teams would have a tough time scoring, and Kyrie would be throwing lots of lobs on fast breaks. I think offensively they would be a better unit with Wiggins also, when Lebron is handling the ball the offensive poses a greater threat when there is an elite slasher (wiggins) and shooter (kyrie), as opposed to two guys camping on the 3 point line.

drpg913ParticipantYou can’t possibly be serious about them being better with Wiggins instead of Love. Love is already a All-NBA player. The love outlet passes to Lebron will produce atleast 6 points a lone. Not to mention the pick and roll possibilities. I know on the defensive side of the ball it may be better but on the offensive end thereis no comparison.

FearTheStacheParticipantWiggins could also help out LeBron a lot too. With Wiggins already being a very good defender, he can take the entire defensive load off Lebron, giving him more energy for offense.

IndianaBasketballParticipantLeBron’s veteran/championship experience, work ethic and just the fact he’s an amazing teammate would definitely help Wiggins. How could it not?
However, I also think he could stunt Wiggins’ growth as an basketball player eventually. The Cavs would go from a rebuilding team to a team with championship aspirations. Wiggins won’t be given as long of a leash to play through his mistakes or just be giving the opportunity to develop the mentality of a future superstar. He’ll be more of a role player.

drpg913ParticipantThis is the same thing that I was thinking. Skills wouldn’t be developed they would just be masked. This isn’t the NFL older stars don’t really nurture the incoming players on the same team. The coaching staff is supposed to do that. From what I heard the Cavs new coach is a win now type of guy and will have a short leash for Wiggins. But I also don’t believe Minnesota is the place for him to develop either. Flips is an average coach with no history of developing players. Hoping this Love trade is a 3 teamer. send Wiggins to Phoenix or Boston or something. anywhere but Minnesota

Lafferty DanielParticipantI’m not the biggest fan of Flip, but there’s no denying he contributed greatly to developing a future Hall of Famer in Kevin Garnett.
