21yoGMParticipantLet me start off by saying I could careless where lebron James plays basketball. I understand the move from a basketball and emotional standpoint but for lebrons post playing career it could hurt him.
Lebron has said he wants to be an owner. He obviously has a special place in his heart for Cleveland. So it seems lebron would would want to own the Cavs. The problem with this is he will be and has driven up the value of the franchise. Without lebron the Cavs are just your average small market franchise, as far as value goes. With lebron finishing his career in Cleveland the value could be two or three times as much as it would be if lebron didnt return to Cleveland. This would cause lebron to over pay for a franchise that he basically built.
the letter: we all know about the letter Dan Gilbert wrote about lebron. He may have been wrong about Cleveland winning a championship befor lebron ( he couldn’t have been serious about that). But make no mistake Dan Gilbert belittled lebron, got him back and will be rewarded handsomely for doing so. He has made out all across the board. He gets the lebron back, probably a few championships and then will sell the team for a inflated price Probably to the player whom inflated the price tag. WOW!
