Y’all should get Input from the locals.

Why would Philly take Parker AND McDermott when both are defensive liabilities and the Sixers are giving up 120 points to the Bucks at this present time?

I’m fine with either of the top 3 picks, but I think Wiggins is coming on late as he’s gaining more confidence (Parker had confidence from the start).

But with the second pick, Lavine has a lights out shot from long distance and he’s a solid defender (long athletic freak).  MCW, Lavine, Wiggins, Noel, and a free agent 4, maybe Shawn Marion, and we’d go from worst to one of the best defensive teams in the league.  And any one of those boys are long and fast enough to get their own shot, but we’ll also need some deep range shooting help, thats why we got Anderson, lol.

does not take team needs into account until after the lottery. You have only posted once, so it is understandable that you wouldn’t know this.

Brett Brown is defensive minded and this year has probably been torture on him. Wiggins has got to be higher on their list than parker, just for his perimeter d potential at the next level. That said, they probably could care less what the locals have to say.

lavine, wiggins and noel better all hit up golden corral if they are in the starting 5.  those are some skinny boys…

and shawn marion?  i hope philly is freeing up all that cap room for a bigger free agent than that.  i’m hoping they snatch monroe and/or stephenson.

Monroe and Noel would be pretty sick. I just want it to be next season already.

I’ve been posting here for a few months and reading NBAdraft.net for a few longer, but it didn’t take me more than ONCE to realize that those don’t take team needs into account lol.

When I think about the Sixers I am hard-pressed to find any free agent that would be willing to come here.  They need some quality veterans but would even Shawn Marion be willing to come here?

What other FAs could the Sixers use.

If they get a pick in the top 3, I am assuming they’ll take Wigins or Parker.  So they have a 1,3, and 5.  They need a 2 or a 4.

At the 4, Vonleh will be gone by their second pick. Grant is not an ideal NBA 4.  I think Kevin Love would fit in PERFECT here with our nucleus.  Thad Young is too small.  (on an aside, what is the difference between Thad Young and Julius Randle?)  So the ideal is Kevin Love, but if you struggle mightily defensively, I’d want Shawn Marion on my team, a veteran presence that can defend and would be one of the few free agents that might take a little extra money and sign here.

At the 2, its either Lavine or Gary Harris.  I don’t think Gary Harris is anything special.  I’d much rather take the shot at Lavine, who is far more athletic and I think is a better shooter and defender.  Lavine is being misused at UCLA.  He should be starting but the senior 2-guard gets the start.  Lavine has the NBA body, he has Monta Ellis skill (I won’t go as far as Steph Curry at this point), AND he can defend on the ball.

Maybe the Sixers can trade up some of their 2nd round picks, or trade Thad Young for OKC’s 1st round pick and grab Clint Capela or Aaron Gordon at 21 if he’s there.

You have to take Lavine and Wiggins/Parker with those first two picks.

A few notes from this forum.

Just because you are "local" doesnt mean you have some better view of the team.  Odds are, that as a local, you will overvalue players that you like and undervalue players that you dislike.  You will have biases and probably think that your city is better than others..

Kevin Love will be in Cali.  He went to HS in LA, college in LA, and lives in LA during the offseason.  Dont even dream of KevLove because you are just setting yourself up to be let down.

You asked the question "What is the difference between Thad Young and Julius Randle" and that makes me wonder how much you have seen of either..

I dont think that Noel is best served playing the 5.  He needs to be on the same path as Ibaka and be used in the same way.  A rim protecting, shot blocking 4 that in small spurts, can play some 5.

Kevin Love played HS ball in Oregon at Lake Oswego.

I do agree with what you said about Noel.

True I am new to the site, but I feel like everyone else on here that I have an eye for talent.

As a local I am far more locked in to my team.  I see them play every night and I know what they need from the draft this year, especially a tanking team like the Sixers. I didn’t know the projections don’t take team needs into account, partly because when I see these guys having Gordon going 21, its not the mainstream opinion at all so I figured there is something extra behind their projections….but anyway, I agree, Gordon being left wide open at the 3 point line and then passing the ball is just embarassing, but I do like his defense.

All I said was KLove would be an ideal fit with what Philly has.  Not sure where you are from, but KLove also knows basketball and the LA Lakers are TRASH right now.  They’re starting guys like Nick Young and Jodie Meeks that were backups for the Sixers, think about that.  Now that they’re in LA they’re more popular,  but they were backups for the Sixers!

I didn’t say realistically they could get KLove.  If you saw my last post, and the one guy said "I’d hope Philly could haul in something more than Marion", I then asked who could possibly want to come here?  I was suggesting Marion might be realistic.  A Smart Player like Love might see "wow this team in 3 years could make a run, if Hinkie hits on all 1st round picks.  Kevin Love could be the missing piece in his Prime, like Elton Brand saw a few years ago with Iguodala and the boys then.  I think he’d rather come to a team with Parker or Wiggins than he would with Jim Buss running the show.

Lebron went to Miami because of Pat Riley.  Pat Riley has constructed one heck of a team in Miami.  Clearly, Jim Buss in LA has no clue.  Don’t you think Kevin Love sees that? Now everyone aroundt he league is praising Hinkie because he pulled off the MCW and Jrue move, which was bold and smart.  If things are changing woudln’t you want to come here?

Noel playing the 4, again you’re not from Philly I assume, so you haven’t seen this guy shoot.  Noel simply can’t shoot, he’s workin on it, but he can’t shoot.  Ibaka has a very nice shot for a guy his size.  They are not the same player.  Brett Brown has said in TV interviews that your ideal 4 has to be able to shoot from the outside, maybe KLove was on his mind.

Now if they draft Embiid (who I have reserved thoughts about), and you have Embiid/Noel frontcourt, you can work all your offense through Embiid and just have Noel play the David Robinson role, even though David Robinson could shoot from the elbow too.  But Embiid would be your Duncan.

I was a little surprised to see that the latest Mock on here had the Magic taking Zach LaVine over Tyler Ennis with their WONK (Worst of Nuggets/Knicks) pick. I’m not saying that it’s indefensible, but at this point in the NCAA season it doesn’t seem like the correct pick. I truly want to pull the "local" card, as a life-long Orlando resident and Magic fan, but I don’t even know if that is necessary based on how excellent Ennis has played and how LaVine looks more and more raw as the season progresses. I would honestly love someone to play devil’s advocate and tell me why the Magic would take LaVine over Ennis (no sarcasm).

Ennis brings intangibles.  Ennis needs talent around him.  Ennis himself controls the pace of the game, but he needs players around him, because he is not a playmaker.  He is barely one at NCAA level, you think Ennis is gonna be able to do his thing against Rondo (longer), Russ Westbrook (far more dynamic), and CP3 (quicker).  I’d say even Ty Lawson is quicker than Ennis.

Having said that, Ennis around Talent would do well.  I could see him playing well for the Clippers, but do the Magic have Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan?  They already have an Ennis type in Jameer Nelson to be honest, a game controller that isn’t much else.

Lavine is raw, but on a tema like the Magic that has a few years before it gets very good, the guy will be nasty in a few years.  He’s not the "strongest", but he’s a long on ball defender (Ennis plays in the zone), and he’s also athletic.  Just because he doesn’t have muscles popping out of his frame, doesn’t mean he’s not strong.  Bryce Harper isn’t the "strongest looking" guy, but he’s an athlete with all kinds of power.  Lavine is like that to me.  He can defend, and the kid can shoot.  With more open space he’ll be able to create and finish.

I like Ennis as a piece to build around, but I’d take Lavine over him any day.  Lavine is just a more dynamic player in a league where athleticism really matters.  If you want Andre Miller, you take Tyler Ennis.  if you want Reggie Miller (potentially, because his shot is not something yo ucan teach), you take Zach Lavine.

Gary Harris (the 6’4” SG) is being projected over Lavine, someone explain me that?!?!

Your synopsis was well written. Nice job on that. I agree with you but some may see it differently. I think Lavine is raw as well but he’s dripping with that P word that NBA scouts drool over. Potential. At times they nail it, and at times they whiff on that. I’ve written mock drafts before and tried to take out my bias towards the Bulls, where I was born and bred and hold season tickets. I also attended KU and so I try not to take a Jayhawk just because he was a Jayhawk. It’s tough to do and I’ll look back occasionally and re-draft. Then I realize on some picks I would’ve been canned but some I would’ve been named employee of the year. Tough tough business for sure!
