JM40ParticipantAfter watching a ton of NCAA basketball this season, a few guys strike me as sleepers for the latter half of this year’s first round;
Sam Dekker
Johnny O’Bryant
CJ Fair
Jakarr Sampson
Nik Stauskas
Also, I can see Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Jusuf Nurkic sliding in between 25-30.
Any thoughts????

Chilbert arenasParticipantI don’t know why but I’m starting to fall for LeBryant Nash. He’s averaging just under 14 and 6 but has the size, length, and athletic ability to make it at next level. Highly unlikely he goes first round but he is being slept on.
CJ Wilcox- Shooting seems to translate well, and at a long 6-5 he fits the SG bill.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantDefinitly agree with CJ Wilcox. Has one of of the smoothest strokes from downtown in college basketball and plays very solid defense. He’s a first rounder in my opinion.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantJahii Carson – if he falls to a team like the Lakers at 37 where he can come in and prove himself, get a starting gig, he will put up numbers.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantReally don’t know what you have seen from Jakarr Sampson that makes you think he would be a first rounder. I have watched almost every one of St. John’s games this year and he has taken a big step back with his game after winning the Big East Rookie of the year. In my opinion he he really just an athlete at this point. He has a very medicore jumper and doesn’t have the ball handling skills that he would need to make it in the NBA. I don’t even think he would get drafted if he came out this year.

RUN TMCParticipantMaybe not first round, but a few guys that can make long NBA careers, Shabazz, Bachynski, Prather, Kane and Jahii Carson (who I think should be a 1st rounder, if Thomas can start for the Kings, Carson can find regular minutes anywhere)

imAboutDatActionParticipantAlex Poythress is really coming along. he has the athelic abitlity and size to play the 3 in the NBA,with his recent play, effort, and motor i could see a team takin him late in the 1st.

Jester87ParticipantI just noticed Chad Ford moved Stauskas to #14 in his big board and other boards have him as a late lottery/mid first round pick. It seems a bit too high for me, unless he has a big tournament, but I like his game.
I agree on CJ Wilcox, I think if he was a year or two younger he would be getting more love. He can shoot, has good wingspan, decent athlete and plays defense. I don’t see big holes in his game (then again, I thought pretty much the same of Crabbe last year and he went to the second round).
I used to like Dekker, but he’s been a bit disappointing this year. He’s not shooting well.
I think Payne could be a steal if he slip past #20.
Also GRIII has been overrated and hasn’t improved as expected, but after the 20th pick he becomes really interesting.

XYRYXParticipantI saw a scouting video of Nurkic and was really impressed. He is still so young and his biggest knock is that he gets into foul trouble but damn this kid could be really special. His body reminded me of a young Marc Gasol and he probably will never be as ripped as Kanter but he is very mobile and a beast on the offensive end. With a late first or early 2nd rounder I would take him in a heartbeat.
Even if he doesn’t come over for a few years he could be a steal when he develops as fast as he is now. Not Mirotic level of steal but he has all you can ask for from a guy with his size and length.

IhateusernamesParticipant4 year player who is still improving. Can score in every way possible and hes a real man under the rim. I think he can be an all star. He’s just playing in an era where it’s a curse to stay in school for 4 years.

YouthinkyouknowParticipantCJ Fair Syracuse will be a steal size, motor solid atheletism.. Can he score on nba level? I think defensively he will translate to nba level!

machu46ParticipantI really don’t see CJ translating to the NBA well at all. He’s too small to play PF, and isn’t skiled enough to play SF. He’s got a great mid-range jumper, but his 3 point shot is average at best. He’s a non-existant passer. And I think he’ll get carved up defensively. I think he’ll probably end up playing overseas when it’s all said and done.
And I love the guy. First Syracuse jersey I ever bought. But I don’t think he’ll be a steal no matter where he’s drafted.
