I believe LaQuinton Ross will have a breakout season, ending up being an All-American and a lottery pick in next years draft. I have a lot of hope for him and believe he's going to be a great player.
I'm not sure about being an All-American. There are several starters returning to OSU this season and everyone will probably step up their play.
That being said, he is every bit, if not more, of an athlete that Glen Robinson III is for Michigan. If he develops further and has some big games, he could sneak into the lottery, even in next year's deep draft.
I wouldn't rule out him flirting with the lottery. He's got a ton of potential as a scorer. He's got the prototype build for an NBA wing as well with his length and ranginess. Hopefully he plays with the same energy that he played with at the end of the season and in the tourney, attacking more off the bounce instead of settling for outside jumpers. If he reverts to being lazy LaQuinton then he could flirt with being a mid to late 2nd round pick.
i think Ohio st will be obviously more balanced.(I see Scott stepping up as a scorer) I think that the bulk hes added will help with him attacking, I think because he was so thin before he avoided contact and settled for the J. That being said He shouldnt abondon the long ball and wont be asked to under Thad he just has to mix it up.
I wanna see the develpment of Thompsons skill game, hes a sleeper too
He had one good tournament game, really
I see Sam Thompson having a much better season. He made a much bigger impact this year.
Totally agree, Thompson is the one who should be discussed as having a possible breakout season. He has all the athleticism in the world and good form on his shot. If he can hit his 3s at a decent rate and improve his driving skills he could shock a lot of people. I don't think Ross is even close to Robinson's athleticism but could still have a great year.
Thompson has all the makings of a defensive specialist who can hit open shots. That's a valuable player as well, but I don't think he has the scoring potential that Ross has. Ross isn't the quickest guy laterally, but he does have good size and length so I don't think he's a lost cause defensively. Offensively he posses the ball skills and scoring instincts to create his own offense, which is something I don't think Thompson can do or will be able to do.
One thing I don't like about him, is that he appears to move slowly laterally, and is often very passive. He's a tall, athletic guy with a nice shot, but I don't see a star, maybe 2nd team Big 10.
I am just happy that he is back on the scene again. I think i mentioned this in another post but he was the only sophmore to play in the boost mobile 24 game and was rated pretty much at the top of the class at one point. he kind of slipped sort of how derrick caracter did but its good to see him back on the radar!
