Language in Sports. Should people be offended? (Kobe Situation)
Wow I go away and watch sport center and the game and come back to this lol. It is funny how people who call others idiots and ignorant when they don't know anything. Is being open minded mean that you believe anything. It sounds like being open minded mean gullible.
I stand by what I said and NoMoney, my comments were not meant for you, it is clear I am not the only one who believe the stuff I wrote. Also who are you to call me anything? What credibility do you have? I will not call you any names because I believe it is wrong and I also know that when you start calling names, it shows more about the person calling the names than the other person. You have yet to give evidence against what I have said but yet you have namecalled me and said i was not worthy of debate yet what I said clearly got your attention and time.
Yeah Ron Artest said that apologies are &$#%#&@! gay
Nobody said they agreed with you, and I still refuse to debate about homosexuality with someone who has twisted views on the matter.
hmmmmm interesting indeed...lol
" just call me kenny cuz i always come back"
If you get banned again, just wait a few days. The admins like to temporarily suspend people as a warning.
Try sending an email to the Aran. Tell him you won't post any more articles from Draftexpress and that should take the target off your back.
i actually don't know were anyone has have warned me to not put up draftexpress stuff. ive done that for a good 3 years now and nothing was ever said. If it was sent to my email i would never know because i never check my yahoo mail. But now i know and knowing is half the battle:)
Actually that might explain why my old name didn't work last year..no one ever explained why even afte ri sent a email
Yeah, I actually had no idea either until I asked why you were banned. Haha
One of those unwritten rules, I suppose.
But slurs are another. Emotion is a part of the game for sure, and if Kobe had not said the second thing, than he would not have been under any scrutiny. But, he simply did not need to call anyone a gay slur, that was not emotion and it is just flat out not needed. This argument is ridiculous, what happens in a mens league is all well and good, but if someone used a homophobic or racial slur in that league, I am sure it would not just be let go as an emotional comment.
Swearing is fine, to an extent, unless it gets disrespectful towards an individual, in particular a referee. You are taught from an early age to respect referee's, and also hopefully are now taught that certain things are not acceptable things to says on television or in front of a crowd full of people of all shapes, creeds and sizes. Kobe f'ed up, he apologized, I do not think it should be given this much attention. If it were anyone else, the same thing would have happened, it is just not cool to do that. F'ing idiot is bad enough, but reasonable, but a slur of any kind is usually looked at negatively.
People get emotional, I sometimes seem like I have tourettes when things aren't going my way when I am playing, but their is definitely a limit. People arguing that what Kobe did being cool due to emotion should really check themselves, because he went 15 years without saying it to a ref, so it is not necessarily like he could suddenly not keep himself in check from saying something regrettable. I guess I will stop, but people have said some really brilliant things on this thread, and by brilliant, I mean incredibly stupid and ridiculous.
My take, and i swear this has nothing to do with it involving Kobe, it could be lebron or Jeff foster I don't care. I can understand stern fining cause of pr purposes. I can understand the media making a big deal of it because star athlete + controversy = $$$. But in reality, anyone who thinks this is an issue is a &$#%#&@!. And I have nothing against homosexuals. I know some and they are no different them anyone else and I hope they never have to undergo bigotry or ignorant segregation. But the word &$#%#&@! means nothing When not used against gay people.
