Yea, I gotta post about him.
As a Knicks fan, I didn't like the pick of Fields in the beginning but after watching some summer league action- I'm thinking this is a very solid 2nd round pick. He's about 6-7, 6-8 and could play the SG and SF positions. Fields could defend a little bit and although not a really long wingspan but he's capable to stay in front of players.
On offense? I think he's a Jared Dudley type. He's not a monster athlete but could make some shocking tip ins. He's jumper is good not great and he has decent ball handling.
I believe that Dantoni has found a steal with Fields and I would not be shocked if they look at Fields as a potential role player if Bill Walker starts next season and Wilson Chandler is shipped out.
I told ya'll knick fans not to bash him the kid is a baller. not great at anything but good at just about everything. i was just making a post about him before i saw you already made one. walker better watch out because this guy will cut into some of his minutes with his more advanced game and higher basketball iq
landry fields is an unheard of bum and the knicks are stupid for drafting him
lo..i remember someone on here saying that plus
"he scored on a bad team"
"he played in the pac-10"
"there were alot of players ont he board wayyyyyyyy better then him"
"hes average at best at anything"
The guy knows how to play. He never should be a starter, but he can be a Jared Dudley type of player. Look how Dudley has played the Suns system, which is just like the Knicks'. He'll get offensive rebounds, make open 3 point shots, and generally play hard and competitive on both ends.
you know, i mentioned landry a few times last season. And i got zero comments about him being an nba player. I can understand if people didnt watch, becuase the pac was down, but when people started ripping him after he was drafted, i have to believe they didnt even take a few minutes to research him. I dont care how down the pac 10 was, talent is talent. He was doing his thing all year. I have been watching the knicks more then anybody this summer just so i could see him, and he been very solid. Oh and, this goes to gatorheels to, he shi.tted all over the knicks for taking landry.
I hope D'Antoni opens up the rotation up a bit for him.
But still the knicks are stacked on the wings so where do his minutes come from
i cant say if he ever will or wont be a starter...pretty much no one can since he hasnt played one game int he nba but i do doubt he will be a starter in year one. but if he ever did become a starter a coupel of games during the season i wouldnt be suprise. not the shooter matt barnes is but he actually reminds me a lil of him and dudley
i didnt know much about him till the kentucky game then watched him alot after that. wasnt sure he was as tall as he was listed untill my bro went to stanfords game to watch and talk to coach dawkins and told me his height and game is legit. its gonna be interesting if my nephew can learn from him and josh childress( hes at stanford now workout out with the team and taking classes, landry will be there next week)
his hustle will get him some minutes. his game will allow him to keep the minutes he gets. i still hear they are tryna trade wilson chandler. and walker will have some days where hes in the coach's dog house because of his low court awareness at times
Good question. Fields is more a 3 man so maybe he could get more PT.
Right now, the rotation is most likely
Felton-Azubukie-Gallinari-Randolph-Stoudemire (Starters) Timofey, Chandler, Walker, Douglas ( Bench)
They are looking to move Chandler, if they do- Fields should move into that spot.
this guys good but..the knicks could've had lance stephenson. so in terms of being a "steal" hes definetly not. they couldve singed him as an undrafted free agent.
why not draft stephenson over rautins? why does landry have to be singled out for that not getting stephenson? ANd phoenix said they were planning on drafting him if he fell to them, so the knicks wouldnt have got him as a free agent.
i wouldnt say hes a steal either because i already knew he was worthy of his draft spot. i doubt fields would have gone undrafted. actually im damn near certain.
and i forgot azubuki is on the team
everyone is saying ebanks and caracter should have been first rounders now. but they werent picked in the first. its easy to say that phx would have picked him now, but they were probably hoping to snag him in free agency. hes definetly an nba talent but he was picked too high.
picked too high? have you been watching him?
there were a couple of teams who had fields on there draft board if they missed out on guys. he wasnt going undrafted. fields was a very good pick for the knicks
people have been saying ebanks and caracter had first round talent for years. its only a shock to some who either never watched them or dont remember when they were both projected to go first round
pretty much a second round pick is never considered too high. its the second round...you have to make the team
Second round picks don't have the greatest track record for sticking around in the NBA.... Go look at some past drafts.
which is why you cant say someone is drafted too high when they are drafted in the second round. its not much different then not getting drafted since both have to make the team
stanford hoops u said it all along dude this guy can play.....he has been great in summer league....kudos to u good sir
I did not rip him because I did not know too much about him but I still was upset that Knicks did not take Ebanks or Stephenson but after getting Jordan and Randolph and some other and seeing Fields play, I am not as upset.
Fields will be a nice player and he has a good energy about him so he could play a 6 man role easy.
All i said about him was he was a virtual unknown and not many people knew who he was because like Standford said, the pac 10 was really down this year.
That said if not for Knicks other moves. I like Fields now but it would be hard for me to say he is better than Ebanks or Stephenson.
