Skeating12345ParticipantThis guy has come a looooooooonggg way since high school. He matured a ton, he seems to be in much better shape, and he continues to get better and improve his game. I think he can end up being a very good NBA player. What do you guys think?

festar35ParticipantAll I know is that Indiana needs to find a way to keep him and PG around long-term.
This is why with the paying of Hill and Hibbert we cant afford to overpay West, he can be a very good player in NBA.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI have been very impressed with Stephenson. I agree. I think they should keep this guy along with Paul George and let them be the future. When Stephenson gets a more consistent jumper, he can easily be one of the best 2 guards in the league. Stephenson reminds me of what Tyreke Evans was showing promise to be his rookie year.

How much do you think Stephenson is worth?
The Pacers should be able to sign all three players w/o going into the luxury tax.

festar35ParticipantThe thing is I project him to get better next season. I don’t see why he wouldn’t warrant around 5-6mil at the very least.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI just finished watching the press conference for the Pacers players. All five starters sat at the podium.
I just can’t see how this team doesn’t bring David West back. He’s CLEARLY the leader on this team (when he talks, they all shut up and listen) and Roy Hibbert gave him a ton of credit as being the guy who changed the culture of the team.
West said this is the closest team he’s ever been on, which is saying something because he played on a really tight team in NO.

XYRYXParticipantI asked this question a while ago and I’m very confident he will earn his starting spot at the 2.
http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/lance-stephensons-nba-future
The big question is what to do with Granger.
Waht I like most about Stephenson is that he is always looking for the extra pass. When he is penetrating AND could shoot. I agree he needs to be a more consistend shooter but he has come a very long way and found his identity in the Pacers lineup.
Bird gave him a chance and it took a while until he fit in but he is still 21 years old and has a lot of upside. Aside from his improving basketball IQ he is extremely strong. Reminds me a bit of Isiah Rider. Not 100 % ripped but a lot of basic power, kind of Z-Bo.
He is a RFA after his third year cause he was a 2nd round pick and will have his pay day very soon. Maybe a Monta Ellis contract is possible for him.
If the Pacers don’t want to pay him big money north of 5.5 mil a year, I hope Cuban makes an offer in this range. Might be a very nice player for the Mavs regardless of who they lure to Dallas. I would chose him over Mayo who costs twice the money and isn’t really more productive.

phila9012Participantlance stephenson would be graduating college this year. He is still young and he shows that guys can develop just as well if not better in the NBA as they do in college. He needed teammates who he respected and coaches who were willing to work with him and hold him accountable and the Pacers did just that and they made him earn what he got. The situation worked out well for the pacers and for lance.

omphalosParticipantI couldn’t believe he fell to 40 in the draft, I’m glad Bird recognised his talent and stuck by him, Hill, Stephenson and George are a really potent trio on the perimeter, Indy just needs to keep the core together and keep chipping away at Miami until Lebron’s age catches up with him.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m happy NY didn’t draft him… Too many distractions.
Indiana is the perfect place for Stephenson. He’s grown on and off of the court.
0- Posted on: Sat, 05/18/2013 - 8:54pm #777351
omphalosParticipantYeah Indiana was a great fit for him, they don’t need him to drop 30 every night (his conditioning would prevent him from doing so) but he still gets plenty of opportunities to isolate and pick his spots to score.
He’s probably their most gifted offensive perimeter player, but their team-first approach helps him remain efficient.
New York would have been a disaster, but I honestly hoped Los Angeles had nabbed him, I thought Lance would have benefited immensely from Kobe’s mentorship and would have been prepared to take up the reins when Kobe retired.
Still, all is well that ends well.

LipstickParticipantThat freshman year at Cincinatti was horrible for his stock (bad jumpshot, body language, etc.). He’s made great improvements in his game, almost like Tyreke Evans.

I think next year it will average 12 / 5.6 / 3.5
and in his best year I think will be 17 / 6.5 / 4.5PD: Miami 2 Indiana 4 😀

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI love Lance Stephenson. I’ve been a huge fan of his since the “Gunnin’ For the #1 Spot” documentary but you guys are going a little overboard.
“Reminds me of what Tyreke Evans was showing his rookie year”
Reke was a 20-5-5 guy as a 19 year old rookie. Lance Stephenson averaged 8-3-2 as a 22-year old 3rd year man.“I’m sure he will be an All-Star”
After one game?
He’s going to be a legit 14-6-3 guy while playing tough defense but he’s had one good game in the last three years.“Going to be one of the best 2guards in the league”
Stephenson will be a terrific player for Indiana and he probably wouldn’t have succeeded so much on any other team but after his first good game in three (I would say 4 seasons since he didn’t do well in Cincy) years, everybody is saying he’s going to be an All-Star and a stud?
He’s going to be good. He and PG should be the two future swingmen for the next 10 years for Indiana but let’s let him prove himself before we start tagging him as an All-Star.
I want to see one consistent season from him first. Not just his best game in 4 years.

JNixonParticipantI have been a Lance Stephenson guy, and I almost gave up on him after the shoving his girlfriend incident, but man. He REALLY has grown up. He’s playing his best basketball when it matters most, and he has some truly great basketball instincts on top of being a big talent. I really cant wait to see him as he moves forward, I hope he continues to work and keep his head on straight because he is a natural born gamer.
