ChrisCrossParticipantMemphis is a dark horse to come out of the west, I doubt they do it, but they could, especially if Randolph gets his rhythm back and Mayo steps up, they have a lot of good players.
Random note, why the hell is Memphis in the west? They’re in Tennessee lol

WeavvvParticipantThey were in Vancouver, and moved to Memphis. I could explain all about shifting number of teams in conferences.. but that’s a lot of work, and not worth it.

IndianaBasketballParticipantTony Allen and the refs have p’d Kobe off. This is about to get VERY entertaining between him and Allen lol. I hope it gets confrontational.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI thought Sessions couldn’t shoot?

llperezsessions is nothing great and its still a delight to watch him play for the lakers. That just goes to show you how bad the blake/fish combo was. ANd that move kobe just put on tony allen was disgusting. I mean jab step right pull back/ jab step left pull back/ cross over from left to right/ spin back fade away splash. I mean he threw all the biscuits on the table there.

ChrisCrossParticipantI know they moved from Vancouver, it’s just funny Memphis is a "western" team

Future_Scoutis incredible how kobe uses footwork to get shots off as opposed to athleticism like back in the days…

Sasha4MVPParticipantMemphis has always scared me. They’re one of the few teams that can match up with our bigs.

llperezmemphis is legit. People call them a darkhorse or whatever, but they shouldnt even be considered that, they are flat out contenders. I mean look at their lineup, all-star front court in gasol, zbo and gay. Conley, allen and mayo are all very solid in the backcourt. They are gonna beat the lakers tonight and it has more to do with the grizz just flat out balling then the lakers underperfoming or anything.

Future_Scouti mean, ever since that performance in the finals last year without gay, every1 that knows basketball knew they were legit.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMemphis roughed Kobe up tonight. He looked old. He lost his cool and started playing sloppy/out of control.
I give Mike Brown credit for having the balls to pull him out.

llperezhave to disagree with you indianabasketball, kobe didnt force too many things tonight. He passed out of double teams and im not sure what brown saw to yank him down the stretch. But sitting kobe late in a close game just isnt very smart regardless of what message you are trying to send. Hopefully it helps get kobe pissed for the next game since they weren’t gonna win tonight anyways.

Sasha4MVPParticipantI agree. Kobe didn’t force things tonight like he usually does. The Lakers just couldn’t guard the Grizzlies tonight. They had so many wide open shots.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think he was necesarily forcing it, but you could tell he was clearly frusrated. I think he shot 1-4 in the 4th and took a few tough shots. I think the physical defense of Allen, Pondexter and Mayo, and his frustration with the refs made him lose his cool.

llperezhe defenitely was frustrated and looked pissed. But I just didnt see what mike brown saw to warrant benching him. But like I said, the lakers were gonna lose anyways, the grizz were outplaying them tonight all night and nothing kobe would have done down the stretch would have changed that. So hopefully kobe bounces back. But I though this was actually a pretty unselfish game of his. He was giving pau/bynum/sessions every opportunity to do their own thing.

Da1potParticipantTony Allen guards Kobe better than any player in the NBA IMO. He is the premier perimeter defender in the NBA right now. His offense is much-improved too. 10.6 ppg on 49% shooting and 41% from long range, even though he doesn’t shoot many threes. He does so many things that do not show up in the scorebooks as well, such as hustling for loose balls and playing excellent help and trapping defense. He plays only 26 mpg, but deserves a spot on the NBA all-defensive 1st team this season.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Grizzlies are pretty deep with 3 guys on the front line who can score along with Conley in the backcourt and OJ and Speights off the bench.
Tony Allen is defense-first but he can make some shots and is the heart and soul of the team. Q-Pon is active and looks like he could turn into really good defender. Hadaddi played out of his mind, scoring in double figures and hauling in some rebounds. He’s a pretty good backup center who has a soft touch, uses his length, and gets up for big games. Z Bo is rounding into form which is a great sign. Even better, he got his within the flow of the offense. I am waiting for Gilbert Arenas to get going but I think he might be trying to get his legs and learn the offense.
If he can play some quality minutes and score off the bench then that would be a huge luxury. Arenas could give us 3 good offensive weapons off the bench along with Mayo and Speights to go along with two energy/defensive guys in Pondexter and Dante Cunningham with Hadaddi and Jeremy Pargo rounding out the roster. When our outside shots are falling we are one of the most complete teams in the league with inside scoring, perimeter threats, rebounding, steals, defense, shot blocking, and depth.

DondiJohnParticipantWith Randolph back, I see them as the deepest/complete team in the West. They have defenders, scorers, able big men, good guard/wing play and a good coach. If they can grab the 2nd or 3rd seed they can reach the Western Finals. I just hope that no player would be injured because they’re a legitimate threat for a West Finals appearance.
I think their defense would suffocate other teams, they lead the league in opposing team’s turnovers at 16.8 per game, 10 of those coming from steals. When they force the turnover, they have athletic players from 1-3 position (maybe up to 4) running for the fast break meaning easy points.
