mike_r232ParticipantNot bad, but the Bobcats have the Detroit 2014 pick if it’s outside of the top 8. Slight alterations to this deal and it’s possible. I know Detroit wants to shake up their starting lineup, but it would most likely require a move that puts Smith back in the PF spot.

TyroberParticipantTerrible deal. Detroit gives up Monroe and their 1st round pick and gets Zach who doesn’t solve any of their problems. I think we might see a deal involving Monroe, but Detroit is looking for a SF so Smith can slide to his natural spot at the PF position.

ColdCutsParticipantZ-bo is the best player in this trade DET would be dumb to not give this some thought, this trade helps every one in this deal

ColdCutsParticipantsmith is a 3 simple as that he doesnt rebound that well to move to the 4 that was the hawks issue so zbo solves a big problem for DET smith stays at the 3 zbo at the 4 drummond at the 5

ColdCutsParticipantyes he is he’s been a 3 since he was drafted and on espn they have him as a SF on DET roster where do you get your info from if DET put him at the 4 they will never be able to get over the hump, with zbo they have a way better chance in every game

ChoppyParticipantMonroe, a 23 yo PF with a long career ahead of him vs an aging ZBo who is beginning to decline. I know who I’d have and I’m guessing so would the pistons and every other rational basketball mind. You must be a Lakers fan to propose this trade.
Also, as has been mentioned, the bobcats own the pistons ’14 pick so it cannot be traded. Remember, just because it CAN be done on trade machine doesn’t mean it should.

ColdCutsParticipantMonroe may not pan out in LA the pressure from the fan my ne to much and his stats clearly show hes not the best player in this trade, hes not even the 2nd best plat #1- zbo #2- Gasol

ColdCutsParticipantjust because hes 23 doesnt mean hes going to help look at where DET is at as of now they still suck with him on there team, and teams want to when now and if they can do so they will hes not a winning player as of now hes not a game changer like zbo or gasol to be honesy gasol is the best player in this trade he has rings
0- Posted on: Wed, 12/18/2013 - 10:37am #857388
ChoppyParticipantSo what if he’s got rings. He got them years ago when he was actually playing at an all star level. Bryant last year told Gasol to put his ‘big boy pants’ on because he was not playing to the level he has. This year D’Antoni called him out too.
ZBo is still playing well but for how long? He started the season very slowly and has only a couple of seasons left at the most at the top of his game.
Gasol is definitely NOT the best player in this trade.

ericw2013ParticipantI agree DET wont do this deal, but Gasol is the best or second best player in this trade. Bryant has nothing but good things to say about Gasol if thats whats worry you.
Hes one of the most versatile big man in the NBA, and his basquetball IQ is off the charts! He’s a little old now, and has perhaps one of the worst coaches for his game… I still cant belive Mitch and Buss thought D’Antony was the best fit for this team and didnt wait for Phil!
Besides, did you watch him against team USA in London? He was almost single handedly beating them against double or triple teams… That was last year!!!
Having said that… what about Monroe, Charlie V (expiring) and a 2nd round pick for Green, Sully, and Brooks?
Boston gets a nice young player and a pick, and gets brooks off his books.
Detroit fills their void at SF and gets a good young backup C/PF.
If someone says no it has to be Boston, right?

ChoppyParticipantMonroe does have a lot to learn. But I’d rather have him learning than someone who no longer has the physical tools to play but has the experience. So should Detroit get Sheed to play instead of Monroe? He’s got the experience and a ring? No, because he’s old and lost most of his physical ability. That’s why I’d take Monroe over either Gasol or ZBo.
Oh and stop +1 your own posts. You’re not fooling anyone and if you need to do that your arguments must be pretty weak.

theEDGEParticipantCould a Monroe for Deng move work, maybe with Stuckey and Singler.
Works on tradeMachine, maybe add a pick to the Pistons.

Bmore_DCParticipantWow…
So Detroit trades their future All-Star big man, and a potential lottery pick in 2014 for an aging Z-Bo and an over-the-hill Kaman?
Seems reasonable….

SpartanGloryParticipantI was pissed when I heard we signed smith but this big lineup is starting to grow on me. The trade idea is straight garbage and helps Detroit in no way. If a trade is made it’s going to be for a small forward so Smith can stay on the block and keep hitting those smooth left hooks. I like Monroe a lot too though so the Pistons really need to weigh their options carefully in trade scenarios.
To expound on this trade idea, z-Bo is not the best player in this trade, an kamen is constantly injured and way past his prime. Josh smith isn’t really a 3 he’s more like a second 4 on the floor. Just because he’s a verso tile player doesn’t mean smith can dribble or shoot at an adequate enough level to justify him staying on the perimeter. Detroit is a tough inside team and needs to build on what they have, not regress with bogus trades like this one.
