RickyRubio9ParticipantSince we all know it’s going to happen barring some Major Miracle by the Utah Jazz or San Antonio Spurs..
Let’s take a look at the match up. I’m not going to go into DEEP detail, but before we start..I’m bias towards Suns because I really like their BackUp PG Goran Dragic, & YES I liked him way before that big showing he had last game.Starters:
PG’s – Steve Nash vs. Derek Fisher
Isn’t it obvious, both are veterans who lead their team..but C’Mon. Steve Nash is still too quick for D-Fish & can do just about whatever against him. I will give Fisher some credit though, he’s more physical so I really think he should try & post up Nash as many times as he can and possibly create some foul trouble.
Advantage – SunsSG’s – Jason Richardson vs. Kobe Bryant
Another gimme, Kobe is the Best in the WEST. He’ll have his way with Richardson, but I still think he’ll struggle in this upcoming series. I don’t know why, but Just Do. I’ll give Jason some credit, his defense has been pretty good in the playoffs, but he’ll be no match for Mr. Bryant.
Advantage – LakersSF’s – Grant Hill vs. Ron Artest
Grant Hill is the “Heart” of what Defense the Suns have believe it or not. Somehow he’s getting it done in a multiple of ways on the floor..I honestly think he’ll outplay Ron-Ron who has struggled throughout the whole season with the Lakers besides the last game against the Jazz.. Artest needs to play more aggressive & go at the “soft” bigs of the Phoenix Suns.
Advantage – Suns (By a Smidge)PF’s – Amare Stoudamire vs. Pau Gasol
WOOT WOOT! This is what I want to really see, the most evenly matched position of the series. Pau Gasol is better on the defensive end, but I believe Amare’s athleticism will really help him against Gasol. The two will duke it out, but Amare MUST play like a MAX CONTRACT player if the Suns want any chance of “upsetting” the defending champs. He’s played sub-par in the series against the Spurs while Gasol hasn’t really forced anything on the offensive end yet he’s still owning any Bigs that matchup against him..
Advantage – Even…YOU decideC’s – Channing Frye vs. Andrew Bynum
I don’t know who the Suns are going to start at the 5, but this is pretty close too. I think Bynum’s injury will hurt them and if Frye is hitting….he’ll create a huge mismatch problem. If he spreads the floor it’ll help the Suns in so many ways by opening the lanes and giving second chance opportunities to them. I still think Bynum will affect the game most on the defensive end. His offense will be so-so, but he BETTER be able to back these so called bigs of the Suns down & get plenty of easy buckets.
Advantage – LakersBench – (Odom, Farmar, Brown, Powell, Vujacic, Walton, Mbenga, Morrison, etc.) vs. (Barbosa, Dragic, Collins, Admunson, Dudley, Lopez, etc.) When I look at the names..I instantly think the Suns are better, but it really depends on Dragic & Barbosa’s play…because they’re inconsistent, more than the Lakers at least. I don’t know the inside scoop on Lopez either. Either way, Lamar Odom can really change the game & he’s often listed as the X-Factor…I expect Shannon Brown to go at Dragic or Nash..I really don’t know how to do this one.
Advantage – Suns. (Long Live Goran Dragic! :D)Coaching – Phil Jackson vs. Alvin Gentry
When don’t the anylasists pick Mr. Jackson?
Advantage – Lakers..My Prediction – Lakers in 6 :/

TyroberParticipantI agree with almost everything. The lakers are just too big and long for the suns.

joecheck88Participanti dont see why the suns cant win(note- i am a huge suns fan since about 2002). i mean look at the C position. if lopez plays he can rebound and bang bodies with the injured bynum and if it is frye, he can get bynum back shooting the 3. amare vs pau is very close, but amare is more athletic and taller than boozer and will rebound on the sefensive end better than anyone gasol has faced this playoffs. grant hill plays with alot of energy and can knock down shots and artest doesnt knock down shots and there isnt really a guy that he needs to guard. maybe he sees time on nash but that would leave hill on fisher. and if artest guards richardson, richardson is more of a spot up shooter nowadays, takin away artests biggest asset his defense. kobe is kobe but we have guys that will make it tougher with dudley, hill, and j rich. and nash versus d fish is gonna be a better matchup than some think but nash still wins it. odom is scary to me off the bench but im not worried about anyone else. yes the lakers are the best team in the west but other than orlando, phoenix is the hottest team in the league.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYou have to take into account that Jason Richardson is playing OUT OF HIS MIND! He won’t outdo Kobe because that’s impossible.. But Kobe isn’t going to win that matchup easily.
If Robin comes back.. That sends Frye to the bench, making their bench better than the Lakers bench. Dragic can stack up 10 points in 15 minutes and Dudley/Amudson really bring the energy.
Prediction:
Lakers in 6What I would want:
Suns in 70 - Posted on: Sun, 05/09/2010 - 5:09pm #309023

sacphil_08ParticipantI really think the suns gave a legit chance to win this one. Nash will get by fisher whenever he feels like and I feel like if j rich is aggressive it’ll
make it to where Kobe will have to expend energy on defense. Also the lakers won’t be able to hide Derek fishers liability on defense by putting him on either j rich or hill both of whom can post him up. I know j rich has been a spot shooter but I’m sure he’ll be able to get looks at the rim off his own dribble. Also Amare and pau can’t guard each other so it’ll come down to who has a better series as well as for centers. If lopez plays he’ll be good to bang down low to stop those tip ins that LA gets. Also Channing frye will be huge for them because he will make the LA bigs have to contest him and if he’s hitting it can be interesting. I hate the lakers but they have a better chance of winning in probably 6 or 7 but Phoenix could get it done barring these things happen. They’re very difficult to defend the suns are , so it’s possible.0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/09/2010 - 5:47pm #309578

bobbybParticipantI dont think Bynum will play more than 20-25 minutes per game. Channing Frye will totally take Bynum out of the game, once he starts hitting 3’s. They will then have to go to Odom( who is no slouch). Amare will smoke Gasol . Sorry Pau but Timmy had no answer for Amare.
Also Grant Hill will be guarding Kobe not J Rich.
Suns have much better bench

llperezshould be a fun series. But the lakers will still pound it inside like they did against the thunder, jaz and the suns in the regular season when they won 3 of 4. I could see kobe or ron gaurdinf nash with fisher on jrich. I dont think jrich is gonna bause anyone on the low box and fisher can play through screens still despite his lack of foot speed. Lakers bench is ognna b important. Brown/odom/farmar must step up.
