Pierre Jackson looked great, Okafor did a good job and looked great in the post.. Jordan Clarkson tho is a beast. Russell was cool, but I dont see how him and JC gonna mesh, they both need the ball in their hands. Good game BTW.

Why Randle didn’t play the game? This guy is a beast but very rust and raw. Want to see how he progresses?

They said they don’t want him to play back-to-backs coming off the injury.

My least favorite Sixer Jakarr Sampson had an atrocious game shooting 3-16 from the field and 1-7 from three. He was an incredible -30 in a game where the next lowest sixer plus minus was Jahlil Okafor at -6 (who also played 5 more minutes than everybody on the Sixers). I hope he isn’t part of the roster moving forward. I jokingly would call him Kareem Abdul Jakarr Sampson last season as would watch him put up shots as if they had a remote chance to go in.

Sampson is raw. But not many 6’8 SG can handle the ball and even initiate offense.  If you saw him his first year at St. Johns you would know he has already improved 200%.  Very raw player with a unique skill set.  Kinda reminds me of a more athletic Johnny Salmons.

What unique skillset are you talking about? He’s just a spastic athlete who’s aggressive but with very little skill. He looks like the same player he did in college. Same tendencies, same mindless play.
He’s not long for the NBA.

John Salmons could shoot the ball. That is a pretty big skill in todays NBA. Sampson isn’t much of a ball hander either with his 2.5 assists per game vs 2.4 turnovers. Sampson was clearly one of the worst offensive players in the NBA last season. He did make 31 three pointers but he shot 127 of them which was a very poor 24%. In fact their was only one player in the league who shot more threes than Jakarr with a lower percentage and that was the guy the Sixers traded MCW.

Interestingly enough Tony Wroten was 3rd on that list so even if Stauskas only shoots 33% he will look like Larry Bird on this team.

Sixers looked good in quarters 1-3. I graded 3 good performers and 2 bad performers.

    THE GOOD

    Jahlil Okafor: A-

While he dominated the Laker’s bigs throughout the game offensively and on the glass. Also, shooting the midrange jumper now and hitting free-throws. I would’ve liked to see him demand the ball more in the post, especially closing game. Also, sometimes he fails to do his work early, which results in him facing up or settling.

    Pierre Jackson: B

IMO Pierre Jackson did a terrific job at being aggressive and scoring the ball. I also believes that he’s fighting for slim chance at starting. However, he needs to improve on dictating tempo of the game. He need to run a two man game between him and Okafor, but he didn’t instead allowed Jakarr Sampson try to make plays. Stop Deferring.

    Scotty Wilbekin: B+

Impressed me with ability to shoot the ball. He really spaced the floor out there, and help Okafor by forcing the Lakers out of the Zone. Also played strong minute as a primary defender on D’Angelo Russell or Jordan Clarkson.

    THE TURRIBLE:

    J.P. Tokoto: D

Only reason why he didn’t get a F is becaus his strong defensive effort against Laker’s guards. However he’s a huge liability on offense, his lack of skillset cost Philadelphia Summer League team the win. He made several bad decision when the ball was in his hand. And didn’t show his athletic ability or intensity that got him drafted in the second round.

    Jakarr Sampson: F

Poor performance. I really expected alot from him. He start a few games last year so I expected something and only got a nice dunk. He even played defense terrible. That’s suppose to be his speciality.

    GET JAHLIL THE BALL

Robert Upshaw is 7′ 275 lbs & being a Draft-nick I’ve read for a year at least that Upshaw is a Lottery talent except for his off the court issues… Right off the bat, Okafor established position DEEP in the half court set, recieved the ball & just Bulldozed Upshaw under the Rim to score an easy lay up… At the other end, Okafor pushed Upshaw so far off the block he was relegated to the perimeter… L.A. was forced to Double, Triple & by the final quarter ALL 5 Lakers were collapsing on Okafor in the paint but he scored Anyway…. This kid is a Beast & so much better than I realized he was…. I sometimes forget – w/ my obsession w/ stats – that Pro – Basketball in the Playoffs becomes a Half Court grind it out game & in the Half-court set Position is EVERYTHING & the ability to Establish position – Especially in the Post – is Critical… Okafor is built like an Oak tree, his trunk (lower body is Enormous)…  Don’t jump down my throat, I know he’s not as big or as good as Shaq, but that’s what his game reminded me of,. That ability to set up shop SO deep on the Block that it’s Impossible to stop the guy, you either let him score or foul him…. & on Defense, the Opposing Center can Not establish Any position… This kid is going to be a Beast! I can NOT believe that Phila got him at # 3…. Clarkson for L.A. continues to look like a Steal in the 2nd round. He was by far the best player on the court (along w/ Okafor), very quick, very athletic, very decisive… Randle did not play, but he doesn;t impress me when I saw him last game, arms are too short, lacks height & length to play the 4 & he’s too bulky to play the 3… I know he’s listed at 6’9” but there’s NO WAY he’s 6’9”- closer to 6’7” I woud guess, I can see why he dropped in the Draft… & Russell – to make it simple, he is the Opposite of Everything I said about Clarkson…. I don;t know if Phila truly intended to Draft him at #3 – from what I’ve seen of Hinkie in his 3 Drafts, he Luvs to float B.S. Mis-info & play Poker, but whichever the case, I;d say they got Extremely Lucky to get their hands on Okafor… I don;t know what L.A. was thinking. They already have Clarkson – who IMHO looks WAY better than Russell running the point. Okafor would have Dominated the paint & created more space for Randle who could have Really cleaned up when teams Double Okafor, so they’d have a Real nice Nucleus & w/ that Trio, I’d have to believe that L.A. becomes Very attractive to Russell Westbrook in Free Agency to come in & share the backcourt w/ Clarkson… Then the Lakers have TWO studs who Command a Double team (Okafor & Westbrook)… I’ve read Several stories out of L.A. that claim Kupchak took Russell believing he could strong arm Hinkie into a trade where the Lakers get Okafor & their Lottery pick back from Phila for Russell & maybe that is still in the works…. But if I were Phila, NO WAY would I swap Okafor for Russell – there will be 5 more PG’s in next year’s Draft – who knows when We will see another 6’11” 270 Lb Bull whose game is a combo of Shaq & Tim Duncan….
