Specialt25ParticipantThe los angeles Lakers have signed Steve Blake to a 4 year deal.
Supposedly earning him half of the mid level exception this year.

ummm i dont know what to think of this yet.
That just killed the full midlevel exception of signing a guy like mike miller or anthony morrow. now all thats left is around 2 million to sign another backup pg. (Fisher if he resigns).

mgreener_34ParticipantNot a bad signing at all. Every team thats ever had Blake has loved him, and he’s going to do everything that fisher does. Hit threes, control the offense, and be a good team mate. Also I think with Ebanks they might not of been looking to sign a scorer, and want to give him more minutes. Plus now with Farmar probably going else where they needed the backup pg. Great signing.

llperezthey dont need the mid level to resign fisher, he can be resigned regardless of the salary cap becasue he has been there for 3 years.
I have no problem with this signing. Now they need to decide if there is someone out there better then josh powell, shannon brown, dj mbenga or do they bring all those guys back and call it a summer or what.

OhCanada-ParticipantYou will not be upset with this signing. Blake is everything Lakers fans expected Farmar to be and more. Just think of it as Farmar finally reached his potential lol.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantGreat Signing. He’s one of those players who are great backups. He won’t complain for PT and could hit the 3. He’s a perfect fit IMO

NashyMingParticipantSteve Blake is a perfect fit for the Lakers to eventually replace the old fish.
He can shoot, play a little D, and doesn’t need the ball to be efficient. A good role player that is willing to do the little things for the team.
A great addition for the Lakers.

PlatypusParticipantwhos the next free agent? Mike Miller or Raja Bell who they have both been interested

DNYCEI think they still have a shoot at bringing in McGrady for the Vet Min, now that they won’t have enough money for Miller.
It will come down to McGrady, Shannon, or Bell.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/02/2010 - 7:07pm #345829
jdstormParticipantthe Lakers also have sasha’s expiring contract, to try and find an upgrade for an amount somewhere around the midlevel.
Also every veteran with an expiring contract, will probably look to jump on the lakers bandwagon for the playoffs after they get bought out.0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/03/2010 - 3:58am #345912
JNixonParticipantHe’s about as perfect a fit for the triangle as they can get, and he’s a great backup who can step in and be a capable (although unspectacular) starter. But he won’t really ever need to be spectacular, so this is about as solid a deal as has been made so far this FA period.

Afactor4ParticipantGreat pickup for the Lakers, always liked him even before the half season he played for the Clippers. Solid player. But I don’t understand how the Lakers can sign anyone else after this deal is completed, much less the rumored signings of Miller or McGrady.
