After the Lakers game tonight against the Mavs, I went on ESPN.com and read some comments about how Sessions fit in with the squad. Several observations were made. One reader made a highly valid point:

"One of the things I like about Sessions is that he matches up with Barnes speed. Before the trade, i would always see Barnes slashing through and making great cuts towards the basket or running down the floor beating the defenders but no one was able to get him the ball. Sessions has made Barnes play like he used to when he was with Orlando. Dude looks great."

I agree, and I’m not saying that Matt Barnes has been exceptional in every game with Sessions, but I do see him get a lot of lay-ups and open 3 pointers than previous times. He is a great player without the ball and is always running the floor. Sessions help Barnes a lot.

Kobe is a TO addict! He gives the ball away a lot. Hopefully, Blake and Sessions help cut down on those turnovers.

Certainly wont help cut down on the KB TO’s but I beleive Sessions might. Sessions looked off KB several times and made the right bball play on several occasions. On the other hand Blake gives the ball to KB, because thats the safe play…but thats when you see KB drain the shot clock and give like 3-4 pump fakes in place then fading or getting caught up in the air and making a tough pass.

Sessions gives LA ball movement and a fluidity to the O. Barnes has been reborn w/ sessions, I agree^

I watched this game start to finish and Sessions is really solid out there, he makes the right plays 90% of the time, pushes the ball, and has confidence shooting open looks.

Also, Kobe was ridiculous offensively today, he’s looking so much quicker/active than last season, even with the heavy scoring load and condensed schedule. That said, his D was appalling, the effort just wasn’t there, he seemed content to try and just outgun Dallas rather than buy in defensively. Hopefully with Ramon around he can rest more on the offensive end and start playing the great perimeter D he was known for again.

Sessions will allow Kobe to play his natural role in a shooting guard and it allows Kobe to focus on scoring rather than facilitating.
