td8118ParticipantAfter watching the Lakers look as good as Ive ever seen them, I think a legitimate question has to be posed. Is the best Lakers lineup one that does not include Bynum. Granted they are going to need him for Celtics if the play in Finals but during the regular season I think the best lineup has Odom in where they can speed it up a little more and can cause serious matchup problems. Also not having Bynum in gives Gasol alot more touches

RUDEBOY_ParticipantWith Odom in the starting lineup it gives the Lakers 4 very good passers…They move the ball better then when Bynum is in there..
But dont be fooled, they need Bynum not only against the Celtics,Portland and Orlando..It gives them a major advantage over the Heat at that spot..The Heat will have to play an undersized Haslem on Bynum..

IndianaBasketballParticipantThis isn’t really a legitimate question. It’s been known for quite some time that the Lakers’ best lineup doesn’t include Bynum. Bynum is usually on the bench during crunch time.
That’s not a knock against Bynum. Odom just brings them more versatility at the four.
Versus big teams though, Bynum is the better option.

stanford hoopsI like odom off the bench because it makes our second unit even stronger. I think he can continue to put up his numbers or close because he will be going against a second unit power forward even more. Don’t be fooled, having bynum is much better then not having him. He causes mismatches as well but in a different way and he allows gasol to take less of a pounding and gets other bigs in foul trouble as well as making theo a third string C which is great for the lakers

HitsterParticipantBynum will be an asset when he comes back be it as a starter or even as a 6th man, it may be horses for courses where sometimes Odom is a better starting option or even Artest maybe drops to the bench on occasion with Odom playing at SF if they go large.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantThe Lakers have specific lineups for specific teams so come playoff time when they face off against Orlando, Boston, and Portland who have bigger frontcourts then they can use their twin tower lineup with Bynum and Gasol which means you have two 7 footers down low with Kobe on the perimeter, thats what makes the Lakers such a special team, especially with their major second unit upgrade they might just cruise through the regular season. Odom is a very talented player and can virtually play every position which brings major versatility to the Lakers and he allows the Lakers to run the floor much easier but once Bynum comes back Odom will be their 6th man again and hopefully will be consistent enough with the minutes he is given.
