Lakers keep top 3 pick according to Luke Walton. Magic working his Magic with Adam Silver, reminds me of the Dikembe tweet before the Sixers got the 1st pick last year.

i hope so. Article says walton was clearly being tongue in cheek and joking with the interviewer, but im sure if we do get to keep it, the conspiracy theorists will go back to this as proof.

All odds point to 3-6 range(I am picking 4th) in my eyes but personally I think the Lakers should finally Parlay that pick as I think two top 3 picks is plenty(I think they have owed it since D russ draft) and a 3rd bail out would be getting a bit ridiculious now…

But I wouldn’t be surprised if they did keep their pick to be honest especially if Silver has made them a promise to help try get them back on track again..Which could help ratings for them/league revenue go up a little.

     Seriously, this is news.

Fultz, Ball and Jackson would all be welcome additions to the Lakers.

And if they weren’t top-3 they would lose the pick.

Of course the lottery rigged. I thought this was common knowledge…lebron to the cavs rose to Chicago and lonzo to the lakers

If it was "rigged" then why have Knicks never had any luck since Pat Ewing – a big money franchise would surely benefit the league by being successful.

It would be ironic if top 3 this year were – Boston, Lakers, Knicks.

Would Lakers take Ball over Fultz?

Probably depends on If their aim is winning or being marketable. Fultz is higher on most mock draft boards…

I hope they either end up 1st (and take Fultz) or 4th (or lower).

Cause James Dolan is still the Owner.. the NBA lottery isn’t rigged but it’s definitely "influenced" when the time is appropriate for it..

Yes, they would take Ball over Fultz. Fultz is the better talent but he’s much more of an iso guy. With Magic’s recent comments about not building around a guy but rather coach Walton and his offense, I can’t help but to imagine just how crisp that offense would be with Lonzo making the ball move. That’s exactly the kind of guy you need in a "pace and space" offense. He’s not really experienced in running Pick and.roll and he’s not going to be pou ding the ball I side, and we fans will get aggravated at times, but he would be a damn near perfect fit. The real question for me, is, do they even keep the pick?

As a Sixers fan I hope its true. Much rather have an unprotected pick next year.

With the Ball over Fultz debate then if Knicks had choice of either which way would they go I wonder?

Fultz has that superstar potential but if they want to run the triangle then would a pass first playmaker like Ball be better to pull the strings long term?

The Lakers could get better next year and Philly might end up with a lower pick than 4th to 6th, that is the issue.

Where Philly could be with their own pick next year could have a huge span on best and worse case scenario as a lot depends on player fitness.

Lakers have a history of having things Fixed for them. Playoff games,  draft picks,  lopsided trades,  or my personal favorite,  when they were given Magic just because a small market team signed one if their free agents.  NBA has a history of trying to "help" the Lakers be a relevant franchise in the past,  it will not suprise me when they do it again.

Lakers are like the Cowboys and Yankees. Their success means more money for the NBA.

David Stern did reject the Chris Paul trade, which until today still baffles me.

The Paul trade is a example of when the NBA got caught fixing things for the Lakers.  Luckily the Owners forced Stern to stop it.

And the owners argued the deal to the lakers was unfair thus blocking it and forced a deal to the clippers which ended up being much worse for the hornets. Yup, look it up.

The original Lakers deal would have helped Lakers, Houston, and put NOH is a better long term and mid term position.

Lakers should have tanked for the worst record and the most chances at 64.3% of staying in the top 3 that the Nets provided for Boston. But they had to much pride to do so. They have 46.9% chance of keeping the pick and only a 15.6% chance of getting #1 overall. that is less than the chance they will lose it. That said the odds of them keeping it does’nt increase or decrease if 1 of either Boston or Phoenix doesn’t win one of the top 3 nor does it matter who else wins 1 of the 3.

I expect them to pick a project at 28. Maybe they get lucky and Kobi Simmons falls into thier lap. At least he will go somewhere everybody likes his name.
