Bynum is going to miss the first 5 games. Kobe has a torn ligament and can be out for a few days or a few weeks. I have torn the same ligament in my wrist and it hurts. It hurt when I moved it a certain way and I could not play basketball for about a month. Obviously Kobe will have much better medical attention than I did, but it still has to heal. If Kobe and Bynum are out for the first 5 games then what will their record be? They play Bulls, Kings, Jazz, Knicks, and Nuggets. After Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol what are the Lakers? They will be learning a new system and will have Gasol and a bunch of scrubs out of the floor playing. I think they might start 1-4, but wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they start the season 0-5.

Without Bynum and Kobe, I think they go 2-5. They can beat the Kings and Jazz.

will lose all 5.  They are just horrible without those two.

Tezo, i doubt they beat the Kings and Jazz without Bynum and Kobe..Not with a starting backcourt of Jason Kapono and Derick Fisher……I heard this morning that Mike Brown said he expects Kobe to play on christmas day..I really dont believe Kobe is hurt, they might’ve given him some time to get his problems straight…

This team really needs to sign someone, they lack scoring off the bench and they look old and slow ON DEFENSE..Maybe they can see what Arenas or Micheal Redd have left in the tank?

kirilenko…. he can do it all and be a great defensive improvment.

Let’s do a S&T with the trade exceptions and some draft picks.

The Lakers losing all 5 is not realistic.  They still have World peace, Gasol, and some guys who could play better than we expect.  I see them going  2-3.

This will give Pau time to find himself. As for the record who cares, they will make the playoffs

@Sheltwon3. Have you watched Ron Artest/World Peace play at all recently? He shot UNDER 40% last year. In the Lakers first preseason game he went 0-8 and went 4-13 in the 2nd. There is a reason he is not in the starting lineup anymore. This is not the same Lakers team you think it is. Yes if they had Bynum, Gasol, Kobe, and Odom then there is no way they start 0-5, but they traded Odom, Bynum is suspended, and Kobe is hurt. It is Gasol and Gasol and literally noone else thrown into a new system. I don’t think they start 0-5, but 1-4 is looking realistic if Kobe doesn’t play, but 0-5 isn’t out of the question imo.

i haven’t seen the games but the fact is he is the primary scorer for whatever unit he is on.  Also Ron AKA Metta will figure it out.  He will get a lot of touches like he did in Sac and Hou.  I think people forget that it is different when you can get whatever shot you want instead of just get shots through teammates.  Also Ron can also be aggressive and get to the line.  I have watched that Lakers team for a while now.  I also know how Mike Brown likes to control the tempo.  They will play a more bruising style of basketball early.  Also Banks will emerge as a solid player.  Troy Murphy will get enough minutes to put up some numbers he used to put up in GSW.

NJ loses Brook Lopez so maybe if Howard is traded, Lakers are in the mix and all it takes is Bynum and picks and not Bynum and Gasol.

Adding Troy Murphy was a good pickup..He can give them some of the outside shooting they lacked last year,he’s a good rebounder and can play some 5..

Artest is no longer the player he once was..He doesnt seem like he’s interested in playing ball anymore..Barnes and Blake struggled in that triangle offense,so i know they were happy to see Phil go…

    I meant, 2-3, not 2-5.

Without Kobe and Bynum, it’s hard to see the Lakers even having a chance to beat the Bulls, Knicks and Nuggets… However, to say they have no shot at beating the Kings and Jazz is ridiculous.

have a decent shot at beating them.  They open against Bulls so you know they are going to play hard, then they have to play the Kings on Monday, and Jazz on Tuesday.  It may be the very beginning of the season, but a b2b2b is going to affect anyones game.  And without Odom or Bynum going against both Kings and Jazz’s formidable frontcourts, and the absolute hatred both those teams have for the Lakers, I think it really could go either way in each of those games.

Fatigue will set in with Pau when they meet the kings, from the first game he will be exerting more effort, because he would be carrying the load, i see ebanks getting some touches and metta world peace hitting threes, but after Pau? who would score?,  Metta World peace? sure metta can score about 25 when in a good mood, but the kings have Hickson and Evans,

plus who would guard evans? Fisher or kapono? or metta?, so with that i think the kings would win that game
