klay88ParticipantI am very excited for the upcoming draft for our Lakers, we have not had a chance like this in a really long time, I think that with the number 2 pick it is a foregone conclusion that we are going to go with the big man Jahlil Okafor, but there have been rumors that we are interested in Porzingis as well! With the drafting of Okafor, I think we can all agree that a front court of Okafor and Randle would be a questionable fit at best, I was thinking, what if we were to do a draft day trade dangling Randle, the number 27 pick and if needed Nick Young to get a hold of Porzingis! The fit would be there, we wouldn’t be competing right away but would it really be far fetched to say that this would be one of the best young front courts in a few years? Okafor could man the middle and Porzingis fits much better as he is an above the rim athlete who could play great help defense for Jah, and Porzingis could play stretch 4 while also being dynamic in the open court and using his athleticism. Thoughts???

BostonCs FanParticipantRumors are indicating that the Lakers will select Okafor, with an 80% chance. The talent level takes a huge steep after the lottery the number 27th wouldn’t interest teams. Porzingis is a way better prospect in my eyes than Randle, not to mention that Randle hasn’t even played a full regular season game.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m not sold enough yet on porzingis to feel comfortable making that trade. I like his potential but we’ve seen players like him be colossal busts before ( not saying he will but we’ve definitely seen it happen). I’m pretty certain randle will be at least a solid NBA pf even if porzingis has more upside and he’s not the best fit with okafor. Plus the Lakers could still find a decent player with the 27th pick. That’s right around the range Jimmy Butler was drafted in 2011.
If they are committed to choosing okafor, just play him with randle and see how it works. They can always make deals later if it doesn’t work out. Realistically, its not likely they will be in contention anytime soon anyway.

SurefireWinnersParticipantthe late round picks are not worth anything, no one wants them.
To get to #3, the Lakers don’t have enough assets. An injured Randle?, the #27 pick?, Nick Young? No thanks. The 76ers already own the Lakers 2016 pick.
The #1 pick last year (Wiggins) fetched KEVIN LOVE. The Lakers don’t have the quality players picks (outside of #2 overall) to make a serious trade.
