laarethekingsParticipantWith the Lakers dropping their 6th home game to the Jazz tonight the only thing I can see on the Tv is that we the ( Lakers ) have the worst talent in the league. From top to bottom. Ok maybe the Bucks are worse.
With the Cap Space and a loaded draft would it be better for the Lakers to " Sell " the cap space to teams looking to unload bad contracts for the price of lotto picks or young talent?
To me the Lakers are far beyound the " Quick Fix " they set themseleves up for. Unless King James wants to run with Melo and Kobe in LA I don’t see the Cap Space Money bringing rings back to LA.
Which leads us to selling the space to teams who want to free up thier own books. Taking the long hual into making a winner again. Trying to team up two top 10 rookie with Kobe and some Vets seems like the way to go.

MopgrassParticipantYou say that as though there’s a way to get a bunch of 1st round draft picks. The Lakers are having trouble getting one for Gasol (which he is certainly worth). But what are these other chips?
Are you going to get a 1st rounder for Hill, Meeks, Henry, or Farmar? Those are decent players they could resign for a decent price and do well in D’Antoni’s system. People are stingy with their picks this year. I think Jordan Hill is worth something, but it’s a buyer’s market.
In terms of a rebuild, they don’t own their own 2015 pick. They need to get a top 5 pick this year, get the highest pick they can for Gasol, sign respectable free agents (Lebron isn’t coming and Melo shouldn’t), and get into the playoffs 2015.

laarethekingsParticipantI’m talking after the season when all the draft slots are done and teams are looking to free up cash to sign a Melo or someone else. Not mid season. The teams that maybe fell into that 8-12 range that don’t have a shot at the top 5 guys.
If the Lakers " Sell " their cap space to those teams could come up with a player like Hood, Ennis, McDermott. To team up with a Exum, Randle or Smart.

juves4783Participanti highly doubt any of the top 5 free agents would play for any of the small market teams in the lottery. the lakers have a better chance to sign one of the big 5 than they do getting a lottery pick in my opinion.
