highflyer0ParticipantI know this may not be a popular opinion, but this is one site where I feel like some people might actually see where I’m coming from. If I’m the Lakers, and Smart and Randle are gone, I trade the 7th pick to the Bulls for Taj Gibson and the 16th and 19th picks, with one condition: Elfrid Payton has to be there at 16. If they can get Payton at 16, I think it’s a great trade for LA. I know some people aren’t high on Payton but I think he has a great chance to be better than Smart. Reports are that he’s been killing it in workouts. Some may take that with a grain of salt, but last time I heard about a point guard dominating workouts, it was a small school guy by the name of Damian Lillard. With the 19th pick they should pick up Cleanthony Early, a guy who I believe can come in and start right away.
I think Gibson is a starter at power forward. In 8 games as a start this year, he averaged 19.3 points and 9.8 rebounds. I say the Lakers sign Monroe, let him play center and continue the development that stymied in Detroit, resign Jordan Hill and they’re in business.
PG: Payton/Marshall/Nash
SG: Bryant/Young
SF: Early
PF: Gibson/Kelly
C: Monroe/HillThat may not be the sexiest lineup, and it won’t make them a force in the west, but it would give them 3 young pieces to build around in Early, Payton, and Monroe while making them at least competitive in the time being. Honestly, most of this based upon my faith in Payton to be stud. I think this team would better than people think. Two good big men go a long way. I expect Monroe to thrive at center and become a borderline allstar. What do you guys think?

Chilbert arenasParticipantBulls seem to be getting rid of Boozer so don’t see them involving Taj this deal though I think the Monroe Gibson front court would work. Also why would Chicago want to do this? Who do you envision them desiring at that 7 pick?

IhateusernamesParticipantWhy the hell would the bulls give up 2 picks and Gibson for #7 if Randle and smart are gone? Sounds like you’re a laker fan trying to rip the bulls off

kmp07sParticipantYea…its a great trade for the Lakers and a terrible trade for the Bulls. The 7th pick is not that valuable. I mean that’s a good spot to get Aaron Gordon…who would be a huge success if he developed into the player Gibson is currently.

highflyer0ParticipantWell, let’s say Randle or Smart are still available. Do you think the Bulls would still shy away from this trade?

UnbiasedObserverParticipantSounds like another ‘fix the Lakers with one trade’ trade. Lakers have A LOT of work to do to get back to being respectable
