I’ve been waiting for Jeremy Tyler to land somewhere and get some minutes. He was one of the best shot blockers available. I hope he picks up at center. Maybe Byron Scott can get him to play without the ball and dig in on D.

Jabari Brown is my favorite non-drafted player. I thought he was possibly a 1st round talent. I hope he picks up with someone else if not the Lakers. The Lakers should grab both off these guys (if there’s space). They’ve got upside and the Lakers might as well go for someone who can pay off in a couple years (ain’t winning now).

Other invitees: Keith Appling, and Roscoe Smith. They also signed Wayne Ellington (guaranteed?).
    15 Spots… who gets in?

PG: Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, Jordan Clarkson
    SG: Kobe Bryant, Xavier Henry
    SF: Nick Young, Wesley Johnson,
PF: Carlos Boozer, Ed Davis, Ryan Kelly, Julius Randle,
    C: Jordan Hill, Robert Sacre

Looks good but the Lakers will be giving Randle a larger role in their rotation.  I think he’s the main backup PF, with Kelly dropping back down and Davis playing backup C over Sacre.

On another note, while the Lakers don’t have much in way of star talent (outside of Kobe, but – after multiple injuries – even that’s debatable) but they look like they’ll have a roster where almost all of their players can step in and contribute if given the chance.

I wasn’t suggesting that was depth chart, just who’s on their roster. Frankly, they should give Randle all the minutes he can handle. He’ll probably start the year with 20 minutes and end it with 30. Too bad they can’t trade Boozer during the year.

Theyre not going to get anything of equal value back for Boozer, and he can help ease Randle in by not throwing him into the fire straight up. He could also pick up some tips from a vet like Booz, don’t see why they would even want to trade Boozer if they wanted too, his value to Randle is at least some what tangible.

Boozer’s work ethic and defence has always been questioned, he is still a solid veteran big who can easily play 30mpg and score useful points. Plus if he wants to try and get a deal next year he’ll have to show some form this year if he wanted to try to get a veteran’s role on a contender going forward.

He may be able to help Randle with his offence initially and Randle being around the likes of Kobe and Nash will certainly help his game.

Jeremy Tyler would give the Lakers a useful defensive presence so could stand a good chance of getting a roster spot.

I have next to no expectations for this team this year.  However, on paper, they don’t look half bad.  I

Clarkson & Brown are best friends. Developed a bond after their fathers got cancer around the same time.

Would be cool for both to be on the same NBA roster. Hopefully Brown makes the cut.

Tyler is an interesting case. He really moves well, and has good size for his position, and he has a really nice mid-range face up game that a lot of teams could use at the end of the bench, but he keeps getting out worked for minutes.

I’ve always kind of liked Tyler, but it happened again last year in New York. Cole Aldrich beat him out, probably partially because he could play the 4 and 5, but still it had nothing to do with upside or overall talent. Aldrich just plays harder.

He’s still only 22, and it’s not like he has a bad reputation, just a history of losing minutes to guys who play harder. I doubt he makes the Lakers, but if he doesn’t catch on somewhere he could have to go overseas for a few years.
