Watching him play right now against Arizona State, it is more and more apparent that he is a lethal scorer. He has been throughout his career (he's on pace to be the Big 12's All-Time scoring leader), but he's even more confident in his jump shot than ever. He has that weird form on his shot and he barely even jumps when he shoots, so I wonder just how well Dunn's game will translate to the NBA. He has the ability to free himself up to get good looks, but I wonder how his game will translate the NBA given his mediocre athleticism and quickness, and his very unorthodox style of play. Anyone think he'll be a great instant offensive threat? He personally reminds me of Reggie Williams of the Golden State Warriors.
Reggie Williams is a good comparison IMO and probably have a similar career, score lots of points off the bench for a bad team.
On another note, Perry Jones seems to have what Harrison Barnes has, he seems dis-interested and isn't calling for the ball.
Reminds me of flip murry/delonte west
I agree with that Reggie comparison for him. Like the announcers said he was making NBA level moves.
I think he will be a 2nd round pick, but im not sure if he will get the playing time/chance to show what he can do...or if he will have to take the path of assigned to the NBADL/getting cut and a few 10 day contracts before a team figures out he can be a offensive spark off the bench.
But to get off topic a little. do you think Anthony Jones fro has Ben Wallace potental?
Perry is known to do that sometimes. when He's agressive he's a different player. But he goes through spells where he is just out there
He just fell hard on his elbow. I hope he's okay.
Flip Murray is also a pretty good comparison, anyone see him just crack his elbow on the hardwood, looked pretty bad.
Are you sure he's on pace to be the alltime leading scorer in the Big 12?..they just said he's fourth in baylor history and he's on pace to be the all time leading scorer in baylor history
1. Andre Emmett(2256)
2. Jarrius Jackson(2221)
4. Richard Roby(2001)
5. Bernard King(1990)
Dunn scored 704 points last year so if he does that again he'll be #1 easily.
ok so its very possible. If he keeps his average he will have 2267. Probably wont play much against wayland or in blow outs though
Wow..Andre Emmett? really? I never knew
Well the Big 12 has only been around since '96 and most of the good players left early, so it's not that hard to believe Emmett is #1, he was really good and played 4 years.
Yeah if youre a pretty good player but not a big nba prospect you are gonna stay for 4 years. They Big time players who's game is thought to translate to the NBA leave early so you usually see names you dont suspect as the top scorers unless its a player from back int he day
Anthony Jones has good potential, if he ever gets aggressive. He could be an Omri Casspi-type if he works on floating in and out of games. He's a 6'10 wing with a soft shooting touch, nice athleticism and quickness for his size, and long arms.
His fro has the upside to be something in a few years, but right now he'll braid it and he has little to no hangtime, so its a work in progress in regards to whether he has Ben Wallace-esque potential. lol
Jones reminds me of the memphis big man i think it was dozier
That's a solid comparison, although I think Jones has a better shooting stroke than Dozier did. And less of a motor. Anthony Jones is the 2nd most naturally gifted player on Baylor's team, behind Perry Jones, IMO.
LaceDarius Dunn is a lot like Juan Carlos Navarro, very similar players with similar style. maybe also Jodie Meeks could be good comparison...
La Bomba would be putting up Kemba Walkers every game if he played NCAA ball...but i see what you are saying
I love the fact he gives 100% every time he's on the floor..No matter if its the begining of the game or the end and they're up by 20..He still plays hard...He might sneak into the late 1st round..
He is a big and they do not get the ball the way they should in college Ball because college ball is about guards. I like what I see out of him when I watch. Big men do not get the ball when the college guards are shooting threes and trying to get to the league. Thats the college game. Perry is a freshman on a team that has scorers. I do not judge him on his stats I judge him on what I see. He would step out to guard quick guards and keep them in front of him until they give up and pass it. He would roll and set pics effectively. He would get on the O glass. He is not like Barnes to me right now. He looks like a top two pick still.
I think Marcus Thornton is a good comparison for him. Guys who are not overly athletic, but just flat out scorers. Sometimes, we gotta forget about what a guy can't do and look at what he can do, and that's just putting the ball in the hoop from anywhere and just dropping buckets. Will jay your lights out from ANYWHERE on the court. Been doing it since he stepped on campus as a freshman, coming in as a 5-star recruit according to some services. Came off the bench his 1st two years and put up gaudy numbers for a bench player. Now he's grown into an absolute gunner and superstar at the collegiate level. I love seeing the maturation of a guys game such as his throughout 4 years. Really a joy in college basketball. Players who could score at the guard position at a high level are coveted in this league, and he'll definitely get a look.
that dude was a monster.....Knight pulls off miracles....he went to the Big 12 for like what 4 years and spit out the top 2 scorers....what a pimp....
I'd be stunned if a team would take him and have that awkward post-draft press conference where they have to deal with questions about Dunn hitting the mother of his child. He is not good enough to have that baggage.
