Blake Griffin for Dwight Howard
It's not real complicated. The Lakers get a showtime players and D12 gets to play with CP3.
Blake doesn't fit the Dantoni stretch 4 but he is Blake Griffin. He cost a lot less than Dwight is going to cost and he is locked up for 5 years. Nash, Kobe, Metta, Blake and Gasol. They could also trade Gasol for Pekovich and Williams.
The Clips would have Dwight and Jordan but could swap Josh Smith for Jordan and Bledsoe. ATL gets a guy locked up at the 5 to play next to Horford and insurance if Teague plays hard ball in summer negotiations. Plus Bledsoe will be one the the best trade-able assets next year.
Something like this
But they don't have to be done at the same time.
Assuming the Clippers had to be called "little sister" to the Lakers for all those years leads me to believe that they will NEVER help the Lakers.
Why would the Clippers, third best team in the league, trade away an exciting, revenue-drawing, young All-Star for a slightly better player who has proven to be a potential cancer on two different teams? And they'd have to give up more than just Griffin, too!
Why mess up the great chemistry you already have for a guy who could potentially mess it all up?
Until I see that Dwight Howard is close to 100% from that back surgery, I wouldn't take him over Blake Griffin.
The Clippers are winning, why would they break up their young core? Blake has improved every year in the league who still hasn't reached his monster ceiling.
SO many things wrong with this, really too many, actually nothing about this is right, only your 5th post so there's still hope.
of all the dumb trades...this is probably my favourite. you've cornered the 'won't happen cause theyre rivals' market, you've got the 'one team is playing fantastically' angle, you've pulled a classic 'one guys value is peaking whilst the other's is plummeting', you've added a double 'player doesn't fit team style' for both of them, and finished up with a fundamental 'the finances make no sense' conundrum. in terms of the 'best bad trades' this pretty much ticks all the boxes. i commend you, sir.
The Clippers have been struggling for years and they just now have a group of guys that can win a championship...why trade one of their key guys that is likely to stay with them for a while for a guy that is not 100% committed to staying and possibly ruining the chemistry. makes no sense
The only thing worse than the non-sense you typed is the cluster/mind f*** trade you posted in the link
At least tell me who loses. Everybody says the Clips, but they have a legit big 3 in CP3,Josh Smith and Dwight Howard.
One hella staring 5 and a bunch of cheap vets, seasoned vets.
Pekovich/Turiaf/Sacre are better than current Lakers.
Minnasota gets rid of Berea, he and love hate each other. They get rid of D Williams 5 million and Pekovich and Gasol a swap. Somebody has to give Minny some picks in the deal to. This way the year Love can opt out they could have his 15 million and Gasol's 20 million off in 2015. This way they can make a splash to get Love some help.
ATL gets some good pieces for Josh Smith. Smith will be overpaid next year no matter what and just missed another All Star appearance. They get Jordan, Budinger and Bledsoe. They will take straight up now for Smith so how can they be losers.
Yes the Clippers are finally playing well and relevant...why not blow it up?
just as a minor answer to your 'who loses' question... you know howard is an unrestricted free agent this summer right? so youre effectively risking blake griffin for nothing? just a thought
