They Are the top point guards next year and most think all 3 will be in the lottery. If all 3 were to declare for the draft next year who do you think will be the first pg taken off the board? Many guys have compared Kyrie Irving to the likes of Chris Paul, And Jay Williams. People compare Brandon Knight to O.J Mayo, and ive heard some comparisons of Deron Williams(A little iffy to me). People compare Selby to the likes of Steve Francis and Vernon Maxwell(NBADraft.net)

What do you guys think about these point guards and there rankings on you guys’ early draft boards?

Irving is the best PG out of the 3. He reminds me of Chris Paul, so I think he’ll be the best PG Coach K has had since Jay Williams played for them.

Knight is very solid at everything, and a monster defender. I think he’s the 2nd best PG out of the 3. He’s along the lines of a Gary Payton type of player. A big guard with post-up potential and the ability to knock down perimeter jump shots effectively.

Selby is the 3rd best PG, but probably the best pure scorer of the 3. He’s a combo guard in the same line as a Steve Francis because he’s athletic, aggressive, and a pretty good shooter. He was the best HS player of the 3 probably, but as a prospect he’s the 3rd best IMO. He’s not the pure PG he needs to be to be the best of these 3.

Irving will be the top pick… Not only is he the best, but his assist numbers will represent that well in the fast-pace Duke system that will be in place next season with shooters galore.

    1) Irving
    2) Selby
    3) Knight

As much as I would love to go with my natural instinct of hating all that is Duke, I have to say that Irving does bring up memories of Chris Paul. The kid is nice, and the Blue Devils will be his team from the get go, even with all of the returning talent and Seth Curry. Selby is one hell of an athlete and just looks like a strong scoring guard, but I do see him as being a nice point guard as well, I just think that Irving’s all around game just seems to be outclassed by none of his year. Brandon Knight being Deron Williams to me seems farfetched as well, as does his being OJ Mayo. I think he plays hard, but he is probably compared to Mayo because he looks to score before passing in almost all situations, and I think he is a pretty big drop-off from the Rose-Evans-Wall trio of points that Calipari has had since 2008-10. Do not get me wrong, I see him being a good player and I think the NBA is in his future, but I just also believe he is definitely in the late lottery mid first round one and done rather than the likely top 10 picks the Irving and Selby are, with Irving likely being as high as 2-3.

Right now, Irving is the most polished, complete player of the three. We will see what happens with Duke’s guard situation, he may not get the minutes to justify a top 5 pick. Selby, on the other hand, has a lot to prove and should get the minutes to do so. Ive seen Knight a few times in person and am not blown away by his skills.

Basically, I think its a toss up between Selby and Irving.

This kind of reminds me of the 2005 NBA Draft with three good point guards in the Top 5, but only two panning out. I think all three wil go in the top 5. Brandon Knight is like Deron Williams, Kyrie Irving is like Chris Paul, and Josh Selby is like Raymond Felton.

I have high praise for Knight, alot of people have written him off and said he cant pass. I think he will be a top 8 pick next year because scouts will like his attitude towards the game and his passing ability which he will show at Kentucky. He has a betterjumpshot than John Wall has right now. He is a lock down defender and he scores at will. People knock on his athleticsism but he is athletic. No im not saying they will throw alley oops to him and he’ll finish them with ease. But he is athletic.

Irving wont have a monster first season, I can asure you that. Maybe 13 Points 3 Rebounds, and 7 assists. From what I can tell he is very NBA ready and he is very good at the pick n roll and he has a very High Basketball IQ. He also wont be the best shooter on that team. Matter of fact, he might be the worst 3pt shooter on that team. But he has so much potential just oozing out of him. He isnt a pure point guard though like most of you say, he has a scorers first mentality, though he looks for the pass more than selby and knight.

Selby is a scoring first guard and he is a combo guard imo. Though he is short he operates like more of a two guard. He is super explosive in the open court where he can use his athleticsism to finish over defenders
