White ChocolateParticipantIf he enters the NBA Draft this season do you think he would still go in the top three even though he has been injured for most of the season? It is very unlikely that he is going to play again this year. He might go back to Duke for his sophmore year though.

butidonthavemoneyYes.
He’s the only sure-fire stud in the draft.

BlueLacesParticipantYes. Especially since most of the teams at the bottom of the standings have a glaring need for a PG.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah but Irving is not the ONLY sure fire stud in this draft, Sullinger, Derrick Williams, Terrence Jones, Enes Kanter, and even Brandon Knight all are going to be big time players.

immaletufinishbutParticipantI think he probably will be the number one pick, perfect pg height/weight and he has that "IT" factor about him. He comes to a team that won the national championship last year, has at least 2 sure nba picks, they probably have the toughest schedule in college basketball and he is their best player as a true freshman. This kid has no flaws and can contribiute right away, where as Sullinger is a center in a power forward’s body, Barnes has questions surrounding if he is ready to make the jump and DWilliams has questions raised about his true position.

Mr. 19134ParticipantDerrick Williams is a sure fire stud too, he got such a great work ethic, and his skill level is off the charts already.
He had a bad game today but the kids efficiency has been insane this year thus far and you got to expect off nights plys anybody who has watched Arizona play has to be extra impressed with Williams’ efficiency considering that he has no guards or playmakers to get him the ball, and get’s most of his production off of just beasting himself around the rim or with his outstanding shooting touch.
Plus you guys got to remember that Irving got off to a hot start and didn’t play enough games to cool off. Anybody who thinks he would of never had a off night or continued that sort of efficiency is just not being realistic.

WizardofOzParticipantYes. Draft-stock wise, it would be a very dumb move to return next season. This year is a very weak class and he’s the only sure-fire stud in this class, and next year’s draft looks to be very strong, and depending on how he would perform next season, he might not get picked as high as he would in this year’s draft, even though he’s been injured.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI do not know a scenario in which he would not be top 3, unless people are really afraid of his medical history. This injury does not seem to be to threatening and all in all, even if he does not return, him being seemingly completely cool to play next year will mean that NBA teams will probably be thinking they will have him starting come opening day. I feel he is by far the closest thing to a sure fire pick in the entire draft. Sullinger, Williams, Jones, Barnes and Kanter have more question marks about their ability to contribute at a high level in the NBA than Irving does at this point. I feel if your team needs a PG, you choose him. I see very few teams shooting for a top 3 pick who will not need a PG.
These teams include:
Cleveland: How long is Baron going to be their PG? Even with Baron, they will look towards the future.
Sacramento: Irving and Evans would definitely work in my opinion. I think they are coming to terms that Evans future is as a 2.
Minnesota: It could be a long shot, but they may need a PG, even after the 2009 draft. They seem to be giving up hope on Flynn and from everything people say, Rubio has NO interest in ever playing for them. They might very well trade both of them and start with a PG who has prospects far ahead of both of those players.
Toronto: Desperately needs a PG. Irving would give this franchise an identity it has been missing for ages.
Utah: They could stick with Harris, or go for the upgrade in Irving with the Nets pick if it is top 3. Early in Harris’ career he was a change of pace 2 guard, and that might work with Utah’s personnel. Either way, it would be a definite possibility.
Detroit: Man they could use a real PG. They are a team full of SG’s who need someone to run their team. Irving would be a fantastic grab for them.
Charlotte: Pretty sure they would take a serious look at Kyrie. They need a new identity also, and as well as Augustin may be playing, if they can get a PG as good as Irving if they miraculously move into the top 3, they will have to think about it.
Those are 8 out of 10 teams (Cleveland has LA’s pick, so they count twice) that would have to seriously look at Kyrie Irving. The two teams I leave out are the Wizards and Bucks who are probably going to look for something outside of a PG. The rest are definitely in the hunt for an assured team leader.

SteroidParticipantNo one really is sure-fire… Maybe if Irving played at least more than half his season at Duke then it’s more than maybe, a maybe yeah.. I don’t think that Kyrie will be a bust, but who knows if he will even be an above average PG in the NBA. With that being said, I’m sure he could bring something to a lottery team.

B-ball fanParticipantThis is a weak top half of the draft. I agree with Steroid. There are no sure fire studs. Pretty much all the players projected to go in the top 10 have serious questions.
Irving: Injuries, overall upside (I think he still is the top prospect in the draft)
Sullinger: Defense, fitness, ability to deal with NBA athletes, potential ceiling
D. Williams: Defense, interior and perimeter, rebounding
Terrence Jones: defensive position, ball handling, variety in post, quickness for a 3
Perry Jones: defense, rebounding, shooting, post play
The list continues.
