Ok, I was watching the NBA Top 100 plays and as expected, Lebron’ chase down was the number 1 play. Kyrie’s game-winner was 3rd. And even in the aftermath of the NBA finals, media, social media and NBA figures seem to always highlight that Lebron play as the play of the season and the finals. But was it really?

Ever since Lebron moved back to Cleveland, media had begun to suck up to Lebron again. No longer was he the villain of the NBA. And it wasn’t more evident than the immediate aftermath of the finals. Every camera was on Lebron. They followed him. Kyrie was shown only once I think in the celebrations on the court. And most of all, Lebron’s chase down block was repeated more than any other play, even if it was Kyrie’s shot that won the game.

Look, that Lebron block was also a game-saving play, but think of it, if the orders were reversed, and Kyrie was the one who made the block and Lebron the shot, Lebron would no doubt still be the "one that saved the game" and that play the "game-saving shot". Don’t you think Kyrie’s shot should get more media coverage than it deserves? (And don’t tell me it already does because every time Kyrie’s shot is mentioned, there will almost always be a follow up"But that Lebron block though" statement)

That was a GAME 7 CHAMPIONSHIP-WINNING SHOT for God’s sake, how anynmore surreal can it get. If Jordan’s iconic championship-winner over Russel considered one of the greatest plays of all time, why isn’t Kyrie’s shot even the top 1 OR 2 play of the season?? (Steph Curry’s shot vs OKC was 2nd). I am in no way diminishing the significance of Lebron’s block, but Kyrie’s shot went SO under-the-radar because of it. And in my opinion, Kyrie’s shot should be remembered as one of the plays of the decade EASY.

Don’t be a fool (with all due respect.) The biggest play in the NBA finals was Adam Silver and co. effectively suspending Draymond (The only major suspension in NBA finals history that I recall.) It was manipulation on the part of the league not some shot that altered the finals. Such a shame. If you want to call that “Game 7” or “history” you are very naive. This was done for the NBA to extend the series and it was done with no regards for the champs who had to win more games than anyone this year.

ay look man, I am on file as one of the biggest bron haters when he left Cleveland for m.i.a therefore conversely I missed three maybe four years of great bball from one of the best of all time! When he came back to the cavs I allowed myself to forgive him, and then I was able to appreciate what he was doing. It wasn’t just the block, butt the block signified the sheer dominance that LeBron was displaying from game 4 o, that will to win or that will to not lose. That block was not only historic but it won/ saved the game. Without that block kyrie’s shot isn’t even a game winner, but a desperation running out of time to stay in the game shot. That block deservers a 30 for 30!!!! LOL

By your logic without the shot the block would be just a nice block. There is no LeBron hate in the OP’s post, he’s just saying an amazing shot deserves recognition for really how awesome it is. It was a Finals winning shot and those are usually seen as way greater than Kyrie’s.

But that’s the thing, if Kyrie didn’t hit that shot, then the Warriors would have had the last possession or the game would have gone to overtime. If the Warriors won (and I’m favoring the home team in OT situations), then that Lebron block would have just been a great defensive play, not a legacy-defining moment.

And if you watch the game (and again I aint a Lebron hater), Lebron was already choking the final few minutes. The ball was always in his hands and it stuck there. He was clanking shots and holding on to the ball too long. Pretty uncharacteristic really. I’m sorry, but Kyrie bailed him out, and he should be given more credit for that.

I’ll never forget the way Kyrie’s wrist flicked as soon as the ball released from his hand I knew the game was over. That block was legendary but that shot was cold

That chase down block gave Kyrie Irving a chance to make a game winner. If iguodala hits that lay up, Warriors are up 2 with under 2 mins left and momentum at home. Lebron took the air out the building with that block. Yes I agree Kyries shot on Curry won them the game, but it will always be overshadowed by Lebrons chase down block. Whether that’s right or wrong, I don’t know, but both plays were top 3 of the season because of the magnitude of them. Game 7 on the road, beating a record setting 73 win team.

Lebrons block was incredible but I agree with Roxas, it wasnt just the block it was who it was that made the block. Had Kyrie made the block and Lebron made the shot, Lebron would still be getting all the headlines. I think if the game goes to overtime Cleveland loses. That shot was needed.

Do you guys remember games 1 of last years NBA finals? Kyrie made a game saving block on Curry. Lebrons holds the ball takes a terrible step back shot , game goes to overtime Kyrie gets hurt and Cavs lose. I say that to say Kyrie most clutch guy in the shot department on the Cavs, and yeah Lebron block was amazing but if Kyrie doesn’t make that shot it’s over, because as OP said prior to that Lebron was holding the ball and missing shots. The block was needed but so was the shots and Kyrie deserves just as much credit as Lebron has gotten.

actually, there is an unsung hero here.   if J.R. Smith doesnt make Iggy re-adjust that shot, Iggy probably dunks it.  the re-adjustment allowed Bron to get the block.
