So, KU pulled out a double overtime win against Germany to win the World University Games for the US for the first time since 2005. Usually we send a team of hastily put together juniors and seniors from the college game… and they don’t win.

With KU winning gold this summer few questions:

    1. What do you think this means for KU? Mason, Selden and Perry all played great, but didn’t show me anything I didn’t see last year. Are they condenders this year? They played without Green (hurt), Diallo (hurt) and Slav (forgiegn), but they had a lot of great production for Nic Moore (SMU) and a little from Dubouse.

    2. Does this mean a start of a trend where we send one high level D1 program in place of a hastily put together team of upperclassmen? I hope so. The Pan American tounrament is played almost at the exact same time. How many teams do you want to create in one summer, when you can just send a very talented already made team?

I watched a few of KU’s games and they were just more physically gifted than the whole field and it was not even close. They were actually outplayed by Serbia and Germany but those teams simply could not keep up on the backboards and that was the difference in those games. I think Diallo and Bragg are going to be huge for KU this year. Both are better than Traylor and Lucas. I can see them being a top 10 team most of the year, but as usual with Kansas in the tournament, don’t be surprised to see them bow out early.

They should just add Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, and Kentucky to this tournament and everyone would be paying attention to it
