IndianaBasketballParticipantGot to see these two face-off today in the North Central HS vs New Albany game. North Central was too much for them. When I left with a couple mins left, it was close to a 30 point game.
Wilkes – Dude is tough. About 6’7" – 6’8"… Kinda reminds me of Andrew Wiggins. Explosive off of one or two feet. Head at the rim. Runs the floor hard. Gets off of the floor quick, even on his 2nd jump. Shoots well. Posts up. His ball handling is solid. Plays well w/o the ball. One of those guys who can get buckets without a play being called for him too. Hustles/plays hard. UCLA will be happy with him.
Langford – He didn’t have the best game, but you can see he has a high skill level for such a young player. He has great footwork and is comfortable playing everywhere on the floor. North Central doubled him a lot of the game and he had very good vision and found the open man. He makes the right plays and just has a high basketball IQ. Great ball handler… He’s very laid back though. I was just waiting for him to go off, but he never did. His shooting mechanics look good, but his jumper was a little off. Kinda reminds me of a more athletic D’Angelo Russell.

evantomesParticipantI was impressed with Emmanuel Little for North Central. New Albany needs to bring their game Thursday for La Lumiere.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantI believe the comp for Wilkes is kind of a stretch to be compared to Wiggins, even if I believe Wiggins is overrated. I don’t believe he’s the same caliber athlete as Wiggins, it’s not even close. I like his game, but I believe he’s an elite prospect. I can see him more as a two-and-done prospect. He got some Harrison Barnes in his game.
I believe Romeo Langford is more of a two guard than a point guard, unlike D’Angelo Russell. He’s more explosive and athletic than Russell was at this age. I like him a lot and have him as a top 6-7 overall prospects in high school. I have him with Marvin Bagley, DeAndre Ayton, Trevon Duval, Michael Porter, and RJ Barrett. He have the total package and was a must watch player in AAU season. He may be the most explosive scorer, outside of Collin Sexton, in all of high school. He jumps with ease, can play on/off the ball, and he can really shoot the ball when he’s on. He may end up being 6’7" when he enters the draft. He’s a special prospect

IndianaBasketballParticipantMy buddy thinks Langford is like a 6’4" Paul George. I like that comparison too lol.
Kid is special.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantI believe he’s around 6’5.5" now. I like that comp.. You can see the similarities in their games.

BeastMode716ParticipantI luv to read eye witness reports from knowledgable fans. It’s great to get a baseline b/c once these top prospects get into college the hype train goes out of control & it’s tough to find reliable info

raybeasParticipant*clickbait headline – welcome to Trump’s America*
How would you compare Romeo to Eric Gordon at the same stage (JR year) in their development? Romeo is obviously a little leaner. Athletically, they seem pretty even, with Langford maybe a half-step quicker laterally, while EJ has an obvious strength advantage. As far as BBIQ goes, Langford looks more developed than Gordon at this stage to me, but Gordon’s range was much deeper.
I know you saw EJ a lot in HS, and wondered if you saw Romeo as a better/worse/same kind of prospect.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI agree with you that EJ had deeper range and was a lot stronger. EJ was a more physical and aggressive scorer/driver, while Romeo is just so smooth and skilled. EJ was like a bowling ball. They’re close as athletes, but I think EJ had more "pop" if that makes sense.
I’d go with Romeo as the better prospect though. He’s a better ball handler than EJ was. He also has better court vision and passing ability. He just has a better IQ and sees the game better to me. I also think Romeo’s footwork is more advanced in just about every way. He’s comfortable playing in the low, mid or high post. He’s comfortable moving without the ball… He’s great with the ball in his hands using ball screens too. EJ was more either a three or drive. He really had no real in between game. This guy Romeo is comfortable everywhere lol. Fills up a stat sheet too.
Yea, so I’d go with Romeo. And that’s saying something because EJ was a stud.
