machu46ParticipantFracture in his knee, same leg as his last injury. Man, this is heading down a sad path.
Tweeted by Lakers Twitter account, being picked up by all media heads.

Toronto16ParticipantDang. The Kobe Bryant era might be coming to an end in the NBA. Knew it would one day happen, still sad to watch.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantThey have probably decided to secretly tank and as a laker fan I couldnt be happier. This is the best move for the lakers future.
Any chance the bulls give up their first for gasol if the lakers take boozer? Id figure it be worth it for the bull since they can use that money saved to bring over mirotic. And even though the lakers lose some cap space, atleast they wont be tempeted to overpay someone.

IndianaBasketballParticipantBased on what’s been reported, surgery isn’t required and he’ll only miss 6 weeks. The worst injuries to your tibial plateau do damage to your soft tissue, require surgery and can take up to 12 weeks just to put weight on your leg. Kobe’s clearly isn’t the worst case.
This isn’t career ending, but he definitely needs to let the bone heal and not rush back. The Lakers aren’t making the playoffs. No point in rushing back and risking a complete break.

llperezkobe was rusty but was slowly rounding his way back into shape. In his 6 games since returning, he had his best game his last time out vs Memphis where he scored 21 on 50% shooting and ONLY turned it over 4 times. At this point, this season is a lost casue. Just go out and have fun and try and win some games and hope this summer brings some talent for next year.

CynthiaParticipantThis sucks, I feel really sorry for him. You know he wants to keep going more than anything but his body just may not be capable of it. I don’t think this is the end for him, but it’s rapidly approaching.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI was telling my brother a couple of days ago that it would be cool if he TIED Michael Jordan on the all-time points list.
Kobe cannot pass Jordan. I don’t care if Kobe wins another ring and breaks the all-time scoring record. He only has one regular season MVP award and TWO Finals MVP awards.
If Kobe and Jordan ended up with the SAME amount of points I think they would be mentioned together a lot more.
At this point, I would say that LeBron will pass Kobe among the all-time greats. LeBron has the MVP’s and the overall stats to be considered the "Best All-Around" in NBA history.
I would STILL put Kobe in my Mount Rushmore of all-time NBA greats along with Michael Jordan, Magic, Bird, LeBron, Oscar Robertson, Kareem, Shaq, Bill Russell, and Wilt.
That’s one heck of a top ten list. You could put Tim Duncan in there too for a Top 11.
If you wanted, you could probably replace TD with Oscar Robertson, or keep both guys on the list. Either way, Kobe is in select company as one of the GREATS.
The book on Kobe has pretty much been written, apart from a few more points, boards, assists, and perhaps some more all-star games.
