BKKnicksfanParticipantI wondered this today
– If Kobe won 7 titles, would you say he’s better then Micheal Jordan?
Your thoughts.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantNo.
Robert Horry isn’t better than Jordan and he has 7 rings.

goneParticipantThe transcendental impact Mike had on the game is something you can’t measure.

BKKnicksfanParticipantI’m gonna say this before anyone gets it twisted
I think Jordan will always be the goat. His accolades and the era he played in makes him the GOAT to me.
Also, Jordan was the best player on all 6 of his title teams. Kobe was only the best on 2 of his 5 titles teams so far.

kurtu17ParticipantI agree Michael will still be GOAT…but what if Kobe will 10 titles where hell have 7 as the number one option on his team would he then be the GOAT…
and i have another question what if Shaq was on the bulls….i dont think he would be the better player but def the leading scorer on that team…and would it have ruined his legacy like some ppl on this site think that because kobe had shaq his status among the greats is somewhat hinderd…

iguapops420ParticipantPhil Jackson stated directly in his book that IF Shaq and Mike were on the same team that Shaq would still be number one option because he is just that dominant on the low post. That team wouldn’t work because like P.J. also said, he tried to have Mike as the initiator of the offense and couldn’t, thus the reason Scottie was brought in for.

DanEboyParticipant^ Yeah, well, I would have loved to see Phil explain to MJ that he was going to be the 2nd option.

NYK2010Participant10 titles is that really possible doubtful and what about Russel winning all those titles. 7 would be more feasible considering the team has a few good years left and Phil Jackson might stick around to coach. I think 1 more titles is more likely though but that doesn’t mean he’s better than MJ look at the years played. The Lakers are really struggling at PG, SF and who knows with Bynum if he gets hurt again the bench takes a big hit. Also what quality up and coming player do they have not to mention they are capped out. People forget last year Finals went down to the wire in Game 7. Going to take a lot to be better than Jordan for any player not just Kobe. He’ll have to win some more regular season MVP’s too probly. The whole 1st option and 2nd option is a bit overblown its about the supporting cast too Fisher, Fox, Horry, Odom have come up huge in crunch time for the Lakers too. Also with the game on the line do you really want Shaq with the ball in his hands considering his free throw shooting. Kobe would’ve been the 1st option and go to guy if he stayed on the Lakers for a few more years, Shaq wasn’t the #1 option in Miami with Wade.

jsev24ParticipantKobe is one of the greatest players of all time, but MJ is certainly the GOAT. Kobe may wind up as the 2nd best SG ever, that’s a heck of an accomplishment. But Jordan’s game, drive and passion for the game, is indomitable. It is not a matter of how many rings you have, it is how influencial you have been to the league and to its fans and followers.

kurtu17ParticipantNYK2010 i was not serious bout the 10 titles comment i was just saying that if he won more titles as a number 1 option would it really make that much of a difference i mean he was not just a number 2 to anyone it was with the most dominat big, it would be stupid not to defer to him and it shouldnt hurt anyone stock to play alongside of him during his prime.

Moon RiverParticipantWhoever is considered for the GOAT will always be compared to MJ and for that reason alone, MJ is the GOAT. I say this and Kobe is my favorite player of all time.

SteroidParticipantWho actually cares if Kobe is considered the GOAT or not? The fact that he can even be in talks of being the GOAT is good enough considering how great Jordan was.

andxxxParticipantI don’t think Kobe is better than Jordan, but it’s alot closer than ppl think
