Status QuoParticipantThe assumption has always been he would have been a Blue Devil. Him going to UNC would have made them an instant title contender and would have made the practice battles between him and Vince legendary.

NorthBoundBallParticipantWhat if Kobe actually attended college for one or more years. Do anyone else think his game would be more effective from the day he entered the league? For Instance, his first two seasons in the league was okay for a teenager, but I strongly believe one year would of made him much more efficient. Also, I strongly believe he would be much closer to 30 ppg instead of his current 25.6ppg.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantit’s impossible to deal in theoretical maybes. If you simply erase his first 2 years from the NBA his career scoring average would be 27.4, but that doesn’t take into account so many factors.
He learned valuable experience playing in the NBA as an 18 year old. If he had played in college one or two years he would have been an elite prospect and would have gone either #1 to San Antonio or #2 to Philly in 1997 (although Duncan may have had #1 locked up and Iverson and Kobe might have clashed for the 76ers) or 1st overall to the Clippers in 1998. Those things may have completely changed his career. Playing without Shaq might have meant that his scoring totals would be higher but would probably also mean that he would have less than 5 titles. His legacy might be completely different.

WITNESS2014ParticipantKobe at Duke going against Vince Carter at UNC. That would of been epic.

SpacegrassParticipantKobe at UNC with Vince Carter and Antawn Jamison would of meant more teabags for the Dookies.

omphalosParticipantPerhaps Kobe’s drive might have rubbed off on VC too. Just imagine what it would have been like seeing a driven Vince vs Kobe in the pro ranks.

M.GarveyParticipantI’m calling bullshit, he said before he’d gone to Duke. I think he would’ve drove Coach K crazy but those ACC battled would’ve been epic. I could fully see Kobe getting hot in games and going for 40 a couple times. Probably would have 35,000pts with 1 or 2 titles. It’s all hypothetical but fun to imagine

IvoLParticipantin my opinion for him to say he would choose UNC instead of Duke i only have one theory he would choose that college because of MJ, everyone knows how much he admires MJ that’s my tought, but Duke wasn’t a bad choice Kobe vs VC would be awesome lol

BasketballJunkie224Participantit dosnt matter, he can say he wouldve went to alcorn state and it wouldnt even have mattered. the fact is he didnt go to school and he never wanted to, if he was forced to go to school then he would have went somewhere but thats not the case.. its like saying what if lebron went to school, would he have gone to homestate ohio state? or unc? it is irrelevant
