butidonthavemoneyBrandon Knight or Kyrie Irving
Who do you think will be the better NBA player and why? How good can they be?
I’d like to get some insight here…

ilike.panochasParticipantIm one of the minority that likes Brandon Knight over Kyrie Irving. Their 2 different PGs, so its really a preference whether you want a scoring PG (Knight) or a pure PG (Irving). I like Knight better because his offense is so close to NBA ready (he already posses NBA 3 point range), and it will translate to the NBA very well because of his combination of size 6’3, athleticism, and shooting ability. Hes also a hell of a defensive PG.
As far as playing the PG and improving his PG skills, I think he will learn those things as he grows older, but right now his offense will help him make an immediate impact at any level he plays.

MagikKnickParticipantI still have limited knowledge of the 2, i mean, i know there games, but I dont feel like I know enough. Gonna wait till halfway through the college season to make any real assessments.
However, based on what I do know, I like Irving over Knight. Knight is a great scorer. Thats what he does best, score the ball. His playmaking skills arent quite there (but seeing his role in HS, maybe they are there, just hasnt had the opportunity to show it). As for Irving he can score effectively and dish the ball out also.
As for how good they can be, I can see Brandon Knight being very Chauncey Billups-ish in the NBA
And Irving somewhat a poor mans Chris Paul, which is still a great player.

butidonthavemoneyIt is way too early for this, but Brandon Knight seems like a perfect fit in Sacramento with Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins.

JNixonParticipantI like Irving better. I think this is similar to who you’d choose between Deron Williams and Chris Paul if you see what I mean.
If you like stronger, big PG’s who can create for themselves and others, shoot the deep ball, and have a nicely polished overall game, you’ll like Knight.
If you like a PG who’s very quick, regular sized, flashy, and a strong passer who can also score at a high level, you’ll like Irving.
Brandon Knight reminds me of Gary Payton or at worst Chauncey Billups, but Irving is just like CP3 at the same stage. Hard to go wrong either way really.

White ChocolateParticipantTo me this is like who is better Deron Williams(Brandon Knight) or Chris Paul(Kyrie Irving). You can’t go wrong with either one. They will both be good NBA players in my opinion and it will be too close to say who is the better player.

WrecklessParticipantKnight over Irving.
But I dont think theres a solid comparison for him. He passes better than Mayo, He will never have the body Williams has, He is a deadly scorer who can shoot from anywhere on the court. He is less athletic than John Wall but way more athletic than Kyrie Irving, and He plays stellar defense. The thing I like is he’s a very smart person on the court as well as of the court.
I think his WORST case is Jason Terry/ Mayo, thats how High I am on him.
His rankings fell this year, just because of a couple all star games. But when he goes went off for those 3 games in Cabada, ppl are like “Its just an exhibition game”. I just dont get it.

Demarcus OnealParticipantCabada lol and I think if your ever lucky enough to have the choice between Knight and Irving your hella lucky but if you want a player wouyld run the team the best you take Irving or if you take who you is a better scorer at the point and the better player IMO you take Knight i think it depends on what team you have but I think Knight would be the better pro since he is high iq player with good athleticism and just knows how to score the ball with really underrated playmaking abilities because he played on a HS team where he had to score for them to win unlike Kyrie who played with Michael Gilchrist he is very efficent no turnovers in 3 games is impressive no matter the competetion.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantThe More i Watch Knight , The More i Like Him ..
He’s Gonna Be A Good One .. Irving Is Too , Bt Knight Plays Better Defense , Is A Better Scorer , Is More Athletic & Against Popular Belief , He’s Just As Good A Passer As Irving Is & Has Good Court Vision As Well ..0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/23/2010 - 5:57pm #383785

Winning_TimeParticipantFrom what I’ve read i like Irving much better. Once getting compared to CP3, thats enough for me.

lalailaParticipanton my very early draft board i have Knight #4 Irving #8 that’s about it..
it’s super close know and will be in college but i don’t see that big potential in NBA for Kyrie fpr me he looks like a great freshmen very good rookie and good nba player maybe bordeline allstar but not more..as for Knight i think he could go as high as #2 this year because i see star in him like Gilbert Arenas, you can say those three preseason games means nothing but to avg 9apg next to 25ppg it’s something good…aloso he looks for me 6’4 200+ now he is agressive and defends well so i don’t see any problems to be a combo at times in the future. i would take him.0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/24/2010 - 12:12am #383909

HitsterParticipantKnight and Irving should both be top 10 picks next summer and if they are going to reach the level that Deron and CP3 have then whoever drafts them will both have good prospects. A lot could depend on which teams are where in the lottery as Utah took Deron Williams over CP3 because Coach Sloan likes taller PG’s and Deron fitted their system better.
Also Coach K and Coach Cal could have a big hand in developing these two guys and again neither player is in a lose situation as Coach K is a legend and has won everything in the NCAA and Coach Cal has a PG development line 2nd to none and gets his one and done guys very high up the draft.
At the moment I slightly favour Knight but it is only by one or two spots if I did a long range 2011 mock.

ghettosermonParticipantI always find it funny when someone says they like a player better from what they read and because one of them is compared to Chris Paul, in all honesty I give the edge to Brandon Knight. I think he’s a pretty rare package. Very few PG’s have his scoring ability and defensive tenacity. I see Knight as being similar to Steph Curry, except not quite as smooth of a jumper but definitely stronger and a better finisher. TBH I don’t see Kyrie being a Paul type player. If anything I see him more similar to Jay Williams. Solid at almost everything but doesn’t have superior vision or mid range jumper like Paul. I’d take either on my team but IMO Kyrie is just a solid lottery prospect where as Knight is closer to that can’t miss prospect of his draft class. Knight probably will be drafted after Kyrie but I project him to surprise like Reke did. Kyrie is more likely to lead his team to a championship and get all of the college accolades and constant hype but if we are looking long term NBA prospects, I go Knight every time although both will be high level NBA guards.

stanford hoopstook the words right out of my mouth with the knight/payton thing iggy. personally id take knight because hes shown int he past that he can create just as well as kyrie(freshman and soph year)..his case is alot like jennings where when jennings was a fresh and soph he was known as a great passer then as he got older he was known as a great scorer but that had to do with no one being able to stop him and him scoring meant the team winning. kyrie is good but hes not the defender or shooter that knight is but its not like its a huge gap. its alot like the dwill/cp debate
