WHOA!!

so could a Melo to NYK be a realistic solution this season!!? I think OJ would be a nice building block with Ty Lawson in the back court. But I wonder what the Grizzlies get out of this? Cap space? Picks? I know OJ has underachieved this season but he's gotta get still have some decent trade value

As a Knick fan, I rather have O.J. Mayo and Robin Lopez then Carmelo. I think both could be the same price, if not the Mayo-Lopez combo could be worth less.

Chris Anderson would help the

Chris Anderson would help the Grizzlies. but that wouldn't be enough. Maybe Randolph and Anderson, although probably the salaries wouldn't fit.

In the ESPN article it says

In the ESPN article it says something about knicks trying to get a first round pick (to send to Denver) for Randolph and that there are teams interested.

Yeah, i just saw that on the

Yeah, i just saw that on the crawl during the minn/purdue game..I was surprise that the Knicks have now included Mayo in the quest to get Melo...

I'm a big OJ Mayo, and will hate to see him leave Memphis..but it seems like he will never reach his potential playing with the Grizzlies. He looks lost in that offense..And at the start of the season,he didnt seem to be happy playing there...

The Grizzlies need a bigtime shooter and JR Smith fits that bill...He would be a good addition for the rest of the season..Becuz next year..I expect Xavier Henry to be the starting shooting guard and among the most improved players in the league....

This is interesting... Mayo

This is interesting... Mayo and Lawson would form a pretty dynamic back-court, but they'd still need a replacement SF. I was thinking Jeff Green would be a good fit in Denver, but I have no idea how he'd end up there.

If I had to be realistic,

If I had to be realistic, here's what I think goes where

Denver: Landry Fields, Danilo Gallinari, O.J. Mayo, Eddy Curry

Memphis: 3 mil cash, 1st round pick

New York: Carmelo Anthony

I would love for NY to grab either Hasheem Thabeet from Memphis or like Sheden Williams from Denver

idea

How about:

New York trades: Curry, Gallinari, Chandler, Randolph, Fields, and a pick/cash. New York receives Anthony. Lineup: Felton, Walker, Anthony, Stoudemire, Turiaf.

Denver trades: Anthony and Smith. Denver receives Curry, Gallinari, Fields, Mayo, Arthur, and 1st rounder from Memphis. Lineup: Billups(Lawson), Mayo(Afflalo), Gallinari(Fields), Martin(Williams/Arthur), Nene(Andersen).

Memphis trades Mayo, Arthur, and first round pick. Memphis receives Smith, Randolph, Chandler, and pick/cash from New York. Lineup: Conley(Vasquez), Smith(Henry), Gay(Chandler), Z.Randolph(A.Randolph), Gasol(Thabeet).

Here is what I came up with.

Here is what I came up with. New York would also have to trade a few draft picks to Denver.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4qumkag

Lineups after trade NYK: Felton, Fields, Melo, Amare, Turiaf. Grizzlies: Conley, Smith, Gay, Z. Randolf, Gasol. Nuggets: Billups, Mayo, Gallo, Martin, Nene.

Grizz playoff push

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4acryqg

Grizz get a shooter (Smith) and a guy who can defend (Chandler). Knicks swap Danilo and Chandler out for Melo and Harrington. Nuggets get a project (Thabeet), a young replacement (Danilo), a young 2 (Mayo), a pick from Minny, and salary relief. Grizz would have a legit shot at the playoffs (only 4 behind Denver and 2 behind Portland right now)

Funny the Knicks think asking

Funny the Knicks think asking another team to send one of their most valuable players to Denver for nothing more than either

A. a crappy draft pick

B. a crappy contract

C. a crappy player

D. an expiring contract

or any combination, will lead to them getting a sure fire all star.

Memphis

I think if Memphis trades Mayo and gets back Smith or Afflalo and other players/picks that it would be kinda fair because Mayo is having a down year and not fitting in. If I was Memphis Id rather have Afflalo than Smith though because he can defend and is a good team player with offensive skill, while Smith is a straight up damn good shooter/scorer, but with Gay, Randolph, and Gasol needing more touches, a ball hog isn't really needed unless they start Henry and have Smith do his regular 6th man thing, which would also work.

I actually think Smith would

I actually think Smith would be a great fit in Memphis, they would have a legitimate 6th man to lead the scoring in the second unit who embraces that role, as opposed to a discontented OJ Mayo.

JR Smith has been in the

JR Smith has been in the league for 7 years now. He has never proven he is more than a bench player who can heat up once in awhile. OJ is 22 and his stock is at its absolute lowest. He will be back. JR just adds points, to a memphis team that has more than enough scoring on it already.

Curry, Gallinari, Chandler,

Curry, Gallinari, Chandler, Randolph, Fields, and a pick/cash for Anthony.

That has to be the worst trade I've seen in a while so basically we're trading everyone except Felton and Amare.

Walsh isn't an idiot at most it would be Curry, Gallo or Chandler, Randolph and a pick.

If they can't trade picks becaz of the rule they'll try and move Randolph for a draft pick and send that.

Chandler and Fields doubtful they are moved too.

Knicks are already weak on the bench, this would leave them with only Mozgov and Shawne Williams in the front court.

DwillJazz I like your trade

DwillJazz I like your trade but the Knicks don't have picks to give.

Its been rumored that they have Anthony Randolph going to Minnesota for a draft pick though.

why would the T wolves trade a top 5 pick for Randolph

And if they could get that good a pick for a bust like Randolph why would they trade it back to Denver. They do know they can keep their young players, dump Curry and sign Carmelo straight up. As a Sixers fan I hope they do trade away everyone but Amare and Felton. 3 is never better 5. Anyone who can add knows that. Also Mayo will not be traded for scraps and crappy pick. He was a number 3 pick and the Grizzlies cannot show their fan base that they'll give away talent so other teams can contend. If Denver was to get Mayo and Prince in free agency they'd look a lot like the Piston old wing trio of Billups/Rip/Prince. If they can get a player like Renardo Sidney late in the 1st round and build around a Team of Billups, Mayo, Prince, Harrington, Nene, Lawson, Affalo, Anderson, Sidney and Williams. I think Sidney would be a steal in the mid to late first round. With vets like Billups and Prince there to mentor him and keep him in check. If they can resign Martin and keep Nene they'll have good frontcourt depth. They can simply trade Birdman and Affalo for Maggette who can be like a Bonzi Wells type post up guard off the bench. The Nuggets would look a lot like the Jail Blazers especially if they trade Billups to Charlotte for Augustin

NY sign a player whose name

NY sign a player whose name starts with M and ends in O who was a number 3 draft pick proclaims the NY press! The problem is it might be Mayo not Melo! At least the vests would only need one letter altered.

If Memphis did want to dump Mayo then the Knicks would be a fantastic place for him to go, he could be their main scoring threat off the bench or would be equally prolific as a starting SG depending where he was used. Also his playmaking ability which hasn't really been used in the NBA would give Coach D'Antoni another PG option.

If the Knicks could get a pick for Randolph or use their resources to buy into the draft again then if Melo will not sign the extension with Denver then the 3 year deal that Denver offered Melo will still be on the table come draft night. If NY draft and then trade said player to Denver then this could be used as part of any deal but with Curry's expiring deal, NY will have a job to make the figures balance.

chandler and Randolph for Oj, Hassem and pick

It would suck to see a player I love join a division rival. I don't know if the Wolves let Mayo get away. They also want Mayo and he would be a great second option next to Love. Love is the glue guy that makes the Wolves solid going forward. They need a 2 in the worst way. If they can bring Rubio over, trade for OJ, Draft the best Sf available with Top 5 pick, Start Love at Pf, turn Beasley into your super sub 6th man, hope Darko continues to grow as a starting Center.

It would be nice to see Mayo

It would be nice to see Mayo go to New York to play with his HS teammate Bill Walker, except for one thing is Walker does not get any burn.

With teams like the Bobcats

With teams like the Bobcats trying to cut salary to help their loses, I wonder if Denver might reach out to one of the teams with an exception and just try to get shut of Melo. The longer he stays, the more his trade value goes down and it stops Denver going into rebuild mode " losing games" and getting a higher draft pick. Offering Melo for a 40 odd game rental would not really garner Denver anything so it may come down to either he signs the contract and goes to the Knicks maybe on or after draft night ( lots of deals go down then so other players could come into play) or the Nuggets look to save a huge amount of luxury tax by maybe off loading Melo for an exception or to an under cap team.

hmm

Could New York get both Mayo and Melo in the same trade?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=469zrdj

-Thabeet isn't in the trade he just stands for Memphis' first round draft pick.

-Memphis would also get picks and/or cash from New York.
