    Carmelo Anthony      ->       Lakers

    Jordan Hill

    *Julius Randle

    *Jeremy Lin S/T      ->      Knicks

    1st Round Pick

    1st Round Pick (Rockets)

    Lakers are against rebuilding through the draft and can make splashes in the FA this summer with any of the following: Rondo, Love, Aldridge, Chandler, Jordan, Jefferson, Lopez…

     Knicks can now go out and commit to building through the draft. They’ll almost definitely either get Okafor or KAT. Then get a second guy like a Mudiay or Russell or who knows what will happen to draft stocks by then. As well as a late first rounder to try to get another rotational player. They also get a very good young talent in Julius Randle and can sell tix next season bringing Linsanity back.

    Definitely hard to justify trading Melo but they’re not going anywhere as is and if you’re getting that much young talent, as a Knicks fan I wouldn’t be upset. And the Lakers in theory could not only make a splash in FA this summer but it’s not ridiculous to think that Kobe would take a pay cut next summer so they could go out and get yet another guy to fit in (KD?).

    * In theory Randle could be switched with Nick Young and Lin could be switched with Nash who the Lakers are trying to get to delay retirement for this very reason. Nash could also be included to trade to get Calderon’s contract (although unlikely since they’re trying to dump future cap).

    guess you don’t read espn much.  phil jackson said rebuilding through free agency, not draft.

     yeah, Kobe, Melo and Durant….suuure ;)) .

    to be serious, both Melo and Kobe knows they can’t play together. One of them (Melo i guess) was talking about it last year.

      yep, i remember melo interviewed with the lakers and kobe asked to be part of the interview.  the summary of it was kobe was bullying melo and letting him know if he comes to the lakers, it’ll still be kobe’s team.  before that, it seemed like there was a pretty good chance because of lala’s career.

     It’s clear now that nobody wants Melo…. even Knick fans.  Hopefully the Knicks double down in the off season and pick up Rondo.

     Lakers shouldn’t offer anybody for that albatross contract. The ball stops at Melo. That’s the old NBA. The newer, more efficient NBA has moved beyond Kobe and Melo’s style. I hope Jackson can make Melo work in the triangle. Here’s hoping the Lakers can also remove dinosaur Scott soon.
