Im Your FatherParticipantI know most people hate the idea of super teams, but I think it’d be cool to see the Heat and Knicks battle it out in heavy weight matchups years after year.

NYK2010ParticipantGetting Paul won’t be that easy I’d rather keep Felton much cheaper cap wise.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to add a big man and a bench.
Who knows maybe D’antoni would play Mello at PF and Gallo at SF if he’s still on the team.

HitsterParticipantGallinari could probably play around Melo at PF or even SG, I’d rather keep Melo at SF but in a D’Antoni system he could be a good PF option and Melo’s speed would create a lot of mismatches. Gallinari could perhaps also be used as a super 6th man maybe covering minutes at a number of positions.

TyroberParticipantOn team USA Carmelo played a lot of PF with Dantoni. Yes it was against international competition with very different teams than the NBA, but Dantoni is one of the leagues best offensive minds.

I completely agree, and people consider that to be the golden age of the NBA.

jaysmith1987ParticipantI love superteams because it makes it that much more exciting when they get beat and its better matchups. Superteams give people somebody to hate and of course there’s the bandwagon people who love whoever looks like best team this generates more media and produces more revenue for teams because a game with just lebron isn’t guranteed to sell out but lebron wade and bosh equals multiple sellouts. In the nba stars sell and having more than one increases the marketability. The nba need true villians and underdogs instead of even playing dield everyone says they want to see even playing field but its nothing better than an upset in sports.

B-ball fanParticipantI probably will get a lot of minuses for this, but I don’t think they need Melo. They can score extremely well; they have three new guys in the starting line-up and are 4th in offensive efficiency. They just really need defense, which Melo doesn’t really bring. Melo is only going to help them so much offensively, especially if they have to trade for him and lose Gallo. I think they would be better served finding a defensive center to pair next to Amare somehow. I guess they could get him through free agency, but Denver really will want to trade him, and the Nets could put together a package to get him. I’m not sure you can say that Melo going to the Knicks is a definite

HitsterParticipantDenver are probably hoping to start a bidding war for Melo as they know he can walk away next summer and unless they get an S and T then they would have nothing. So some picks and young talent would be their better long term option even if it ruins their season. With the Nets holding so many picks they could probably even look to keep Favours and offer all those picks via trades and one of their own to Denver in return for Melo. This could land Denver maybe 3 or more future first round picks whilst the Nets have Harris, Melo, Favours and Lopez as 4 of their long term starting 5.
The Knicks will surely have to make a move if Melo is in play but they cannot send a first rounder until 2014 and to get a first rounder via a trade would mean sacrificing talent and where they can get it from would be hard. The Lakers and Miami have both given up their 2011 first round picks, the Nets would not help them neither would any other major contenders unless the deal was one sided or the Knicks took on extra salaries.
Other teams who may look to get in play for Melo could be say Orlando who have all their future picks and Carter’s huge team option to base a trade around and a few young assets Denver may like. Mark Cuban may also try to put Dallas in the mix and has both Butler’s and even Chandler’s expiring deals and can send first rounders from 2012 or like the Knicks may use their resources to generate a trade to get extra picks.
