ballislyfe25ParticipantReal surprised by this move and I don’t really understand it. I live in the NY market and Fisher has definitely improved and had the Knicks playing a bunch of teams really competitively, despite a few rough stretches down along the way. I think their record is the same regardless of who is coaching the team. Carmelo’s improved all around game (although is now clearly playing with an injured knee) and Porzingis’ rise have been under Fish’s watch. Many other players are also playing above expectations–Afflalo was a 6th man in Portland last year and is basically this team’s second scoring option.
So, Fisher was bad last year but improved and has been saying the right things consistently to the media all year. Did not see this move coming at all and the only realistic option is Luke Walton. Brian Shaw or keeping Rambis would be pointless.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantThe Knicks suck ! Melo still hogs the ball, Porzingis is nice, however the rest of the roster are really NDBL talent. Has long as the Knicks have #7 on their roster, the Knicks will forever be a below .500 team.

UnbiasedObserverParticipantFish is not a good coach. The Knicks have Zinger and that’s pretty much it. Melo is getting older and plays pretty selfish ball.

XYRYXParticipantMan the Knicks and especially Mr. Jackson really like the big drama. Less then one week before the All Star Game and after going 1-9 the last 10 games the Front Office around the spiritual leader and zen master the Knicks come to the conclusion, that they were wrong giving just over 1 1/2 years ago when Kerr decided the Warriors were somehow a better choice then the glory Knicks franchise…
Honestly I think we all knew Fisher should have been an assasitant or at least go to some kind of coaching seminar before he wanted to become a head coach straight out of his last NBA season as a player. Another thing many questioned was the whole triangle thing as Jacksons puppet as a rookie coach. If you go against a decision which seem to be chosen wrong now you earn my respect mostly any time but honestly did Fisher really do a bad job with this roster so far this year aside from the latest 1-9 stretch? This franchise just gave Fisher 25 million in 2014 to coach them to the 4th pick in Porzingis and stands now at 40-96. Wow. That’s nba players top 5 salary if I’m not mistaken and basically the same as toying around with contracts like Amares. The Knicks needed to swollow their pride and it’s good but I bet the next coach also gets at least a 4 year deal worth north of 5 million per year or in Thibs or Waltons dimensions something like 4 year 27-30 million. I think it’s kind of entertaining to see what Phil is doing there and to say at the presser it’s easier to fire the coach then 15 players for sure makes things a lot easier for Fish to be kicked like a dog from Phil who just is who he is but serious management and reasonable moves are somethng different. It seems like a million years ago the Knicks front office was not the headquarters of some narcistic, short memory and risky people. The same Phil hasn’t spoken to the media the whole season since preaseason. This club is a mess and I have ro say I kind of only feel sorry for some of their players. #porz
