If Towns, Okafor and Russell are all gone by the 4th pick can the Knicks afford to pass up on Mudiay? Also hearing they might trade. Can they really pass on a talent like Mudiay?

Draft wise, if it was the old managment I could see them possibly taking Portzingis as a stretch 4, but with Phil there, I don’t see how he passes up on a big, athletic guard.

I think there is a clear tier difference between the top 4 players and then next guys.

However, non draft wise, I could see them trading it depending on the offers they get.

They can pass on EM if they believe they can get Rondo in free agency

I’d rather have a 19 year old who only played a few games in China Emmanuel Mudiay, than Rajon Rondo at this point. I don’t see any world where Rondo will turn it around.

Its funny because last year Eman was killing everyone in his class, posting up dunks taken the game over. Now since his stint its like hes no longer talented and why take rondo when you can get eman on rookie scale

Doesn’t make any sense to me either. I even heard one analyst say he was this drafts "Mystery Man" similar to Exum from last year??

The Knicks PGs have been awful for quite some time so I don’t know why they would pass on Mudiay other than lack of patience as an organization. Building a championship team overnight isn’t too prevalent but that is what the Knicks fans want so that is what the organization will likely try to do…and as usual they will mess it up.

They shouldn’t pass on him but they are the Knicks so they believe they have the inherent right to contend every year so they will try to make a Celtics like move and bring in a proven talent to match with Carmelo and it will likely not work. I could see them perhaps trying to get Cousins for the 4th pick and next years first rounder. The Kings could use a PG of the future and then could draft Winslow, Porzingis or WCS at 6.

Because Rondo fits the triangle better. Knicks want to win now, so does Melo and Phil. They dont really have time to groom EM. Im just saying

The triangle requires a point guard who has great spacing and can shoot three’s. Look at the teams that ran the triangle and who there point guards were (Derek Fisher, Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, etc.) The triangle is a spacing derived offense – an area in which Rondo doesn’t excel.

It will not let me post websites anymore – but the Coaches Clipboard & Traignle Offense.com have great resources on the overlay of the traingle – and how it spacing is to be distributed).

I do agree that Rondo is not for the triangle because he hs a horrible shooter. I would prefer a much younger, no major injury, bigger guard than rondo right now. Mudiay will be cheaper. It does suck cause last year he leading the pack but when he went to China he fell a little despite playing well in china. Russell would of been the ideal pick for the knicks and triangle offense.

But I think Mudiay will be a beast. Just have to hope he’s mature enough for the lights in NYC

They need to get real and stop running the triangle.

They were saying the 76ers are leaning heavily towards taking Mudiay. You hear that alot on CSN Philadelphia as well. (Of course, obviously, it’s still quite early in the process.)

Oh, and apparently Carmelo has told Coach Fisher he wants to play PF almost exclusively from now on. Opening the door (at least according to WFAN) for the Knicks to consider picking Justise Winslow. BTW, those guys were all, like, creaming themselves over Winslow. Mike Francesa even compared him to a "young Grant Hill".

Wouldn’t be surprised if they pick WCS(they seem so high on him) or Winslow,as I see both being good New york players especially Winslow. I can’t see them taking a european.

I’m so afraid Phil is going to try to outsmart everyone and take Cauley-Stein.

He has to take bpa, who will be whoever is best from Towns, Okafor, Russell, or Mudiay
