So Fisher literally pulled all his starters today and although it not the first time it has ever happened I think it is symbolic that this team needs to reset.

Looking at the reaction of some of the guys I can’t help feel they don’t like Fisher and I think Jackson should start making moves and get some young prospects.

The reason I say the team needs to change is they were basically the same last year and under a different coach still couldn’t get it done. They will end up with a good draft pick this year and why not look to move Carmelo for some young guys and/or draft picks.

Give Fisher a young team to mold as he wants and they can look to the future, this coming draft looks pretty deep and they could get a couple of decent guys to start things off.

What do you think Carmelo could get them? Who else would you put on the block?

Trade JR, Larkin and Prigioni for a draft pick.

    Let STAT and Bargs walk.

Keep Hardaway, Acy, Dalembert, Jason Smith and Calderon.

Draft a wing defender in the offseason with the potential top pick for 2015

Go after a bench scorer in the offseason (The easiest part)

Go after a solid PG that doesn’t need the ball in his hands and defends well (Reggie Jackson and Patrick Beverly are free agents in 2015).

PRAY that Phil Jackson has a good pitch for a free Agent center (Gasol, Hibbert, Monroe).

Have a big talk with Melo about "trusting his teammates."

Impliment defense first and ease into the Triangle offense.

That all sounds reasonable. They will probably pick between 5 and 10. They should have a good chance at getting justise winslow or stanley johnson. If they throw 10 million at jackson, which is a fair deal. Then get Gasol (ideally) or Monroe, both of them are good passers would fit great into what they are doing. Then fill out the roster with the pick from the first three players and what ever money they have left. Then when you have those players melo will trust his teammates because they will be good, so that talk wont be needed.

Moving melo is not an option. The whole point was to build a winning team around Melo. I don’t argree with going younger and relying on hit or miss draft picks. Building a team around young guys is a 2-4 year plan of sucking and stacking up on lottery picks. The Knicks goal was to win asap. You dont waste Melo’s prime with a lengthy rebuild. I’d hold on to this year’s lottery pick if it’s  a sure fire can’t miss guy is there but I’d be open to trading it if it could bring melo the right help. Phil Jackson had his hands full.

Keep Melo, try to trade away anyone of the team except Hardaway Jr. and Anthony to gather as much assets as possible. In the offseason, the Knicks should go after a PG (Jackson is an option like mentioned before, Gordan Dragic might even be a better option) and a C that can defend and is mobile (Gasol might be the best C in free agency, but I believe a guy like Brendan Wright can serve as Tyson Chandler – Light as well). Put Melo at the 4 position, so either draft or sign someone that can defend on the wing and is a smart player as well (resigning Shumpert might be an option as well).

Trade JR Smith, Calderon, Bargnani to Orlando for Tobias Harris. If not, sign him in free agency, hes a young up and coming 2nd option in this league. His presence would allow Melo to go back to the 4 position that made him deadly in the previous 2 seasons. (his best in his career)

Trade Amare, Hardaway Jr to Boston for Rondo.  Rondo is not staying in Boston and the celtics know this, so why not look to ship him out with something in return. Amare is hot right now probably the most consistent knick on the floor. Put him along with a young asset in hardaway and boston would consider this not to mention amare’s contract expires after this season. Rondo is exactly what Melo needs someone who can create for his teammates. someone who doesn’t look to score and is still deadly regardless. a gritty defensive player who along side shumpert can be a deadly combo on the perimeter.

Keep that 1st round pick this year we dont know where they will end up in the lottery but theres some pretty good talent in this years class.

Go get Gasol, Hibbert, or Monroe, any of these 3 will do. All capable bigs who can play inside, rebound, defend and pass.

Sign Wes Matthews hes one of the few two way players we have in the league who can knock down the 3 ball as will as create. His defensive is above average and hes a seasoned vet.

Sad to even be thinking about next year and we’re not even done with December but thats what its like to be a knicks fan.

My Ideal/Realistic Knicks Lineup Next Year:

    1Rondo,2Matthew,3TobiasHarris,4 Melo,5, Gasol

Larkin, Shump, Stanley Johnson, Acy, Salembert

I was playing around with some kind of a version of this trade yesterday.

The Knicks need smart players who can play multiple positions to fit their offensive and defensive scheme. Green and Igoudala would each be able to play three positions. The triangle would help Iggy age gracefully and it is built for players like Green. Green or Melo might have to play power forward a bit, but that might open up the offense even more. If the Knicks could turn several expiring contracts and Hardaway into solid veterans like Iggy and Green, it would make them more competitive this year and help them as they attract other FAs.

The Warriors probably don’t do this trade unless Iggy starts to get restless in his bench role. As long as they are winning, this trade probably won’t happen. However, they have some tough financial decisions coming up. They will run into the hard cap if they keep their current roster and try to sign Barnes and Green. At this point in their careers, it might be a wise move to trade Iggy, open up cap space to resign Barnes and Green, and ride it out. They get two expiring contracts. Shumpert might be a good rental piece to fill in Iggy’s role for a year. Bargnani probably doesn’t play for them, but if Bogut and Lee go down with injuries, he might help out a bit. His ability to stretch the floor with his shooting also provides an interesting skill for Kerr to use.

I’m a Celtics fan, so I need to preface this trade for them. First, they are one of the worse defensive teams in the league, especially defense at the rim (54%). Second, opposing offenses play very fast against them (second fastest in the league). Third, I think part of the reason for number 2 is they are one of the worst three point shooting teams in the league (32%). Fourth, they are one of the poorest teams in the league at defending the three, which is partially because other teams are able to get open looks on the fast break. Fifth, Jeff Green is one of the worst, best players in the NBA. What I mean is that his regular stats are great, but his advanced stats (and the eye test) tells us something is wrong with his play style. Even though he is averaging 20PPG, his RPM stat is almost negative 2. That means that replacements are helping their team win more than he is.

I’ve played with a lot trades to get the Celtics a rim protector inside and shooter on the wing. Rim protectors that I targeted were Hibbert, Sanders, Gobert, Motiejunas (my favorite for the Celtics), O’Quinn, Leonard (probably available for cheap), and Dalembert. Shooters I targeted were Martin, Reddick, and Hardaway Jr. Each of these I thought were a good fit with the Celtics, and I think the Celtics have the pieces to get them if they really wanted to. Needless to say, I’ve played with a lot of trades, and I honestly think that Brad Stevens system is starting to click, but they are still a piece are two away, and they need to clean up their roster. In this trade, the Celtics get a young shooting guard with no conscience who might be a great compliment to Bradley and Rondo. They also get a rental rim protector and trade away a piece that, imho, might be holding them back. They will still need to target rim protection in the draft or free agency next year.

It is a good trade for the whole group. That being said the Knicks would be risking a lot of cap space for Iggy (who may not play like he did on the 76ers) for 3 years, and Jeff Green (who is on the books for this year, but has a player option next year). It would severley cut into their free agency cap room. Jeff Green is not a player the Knicks will want playing on their team next year, and they would like to be able to sign major free agents next year.

The Celtics, though, jump all over this trade. They get a great shooter in Hardaway Jr. and a decent bench rim defender.

The Warriors are hard to predict. First they get rid of Iggy who has been great (but not off the bench). They lose what Iggy brings to the team, so that will hurt them during playoff time. They do get Shumpert, but he is a RFA next year, so he is a loan. They also get Bargnani, who will come off the books next year. Not worth it. While Iggy hasn’t been playing well off the bench, he will be of value when they make the playoffs.

The Warriors are a legit contender this year, so maybe they don’t care about long-term cap problems, but they will need to care about it eventually. I personally don’t think David Lee is very tradeable on that contract and with his injuries. That means that they will need to probably either trade Bogut or Iggy this year or during the off-season. I don’t think they are going to trade Bogut because of the way he compliments Curry and Thompson. I like Iggy on the right team in the right scheme, but I think the clock is ticking on his time in Golden State. The Warriors will have to decide to let Green and Barnes walk, or to to trade Iggy.

Again, they may say "to hell with it" because they are legit contenders this year, but eventually, they will need to do something.

if i was ny, i’d call brooklyn and see what kind of value they think d-will and lopez have.  expiring contracts of stat and bags plus a couple young players like shump or hardaway jr and larkin and a 1st may be enticing.

They should put everyone on the trade block except Melo. Hardaway Jr. has alot of trade value. They should be able to get a nice haul for him along with other players. Bargnani and his expiring contract should be moveable and he should be able to help a contending team depending on his health.
