For anyone who still thinks the Kings will take Aminu at 5, check out the workout database on this site. 56 player workouts, and not one of them Aminu.

Jason Thompson and Tyreke Evans bothed wowed Petrie in workouts, leading to their selections. Petrie puts a lot of weight into those workouts (hence so many). Anyone who says the Kings are taking Aminu (barring a trade-down and a major free-fall) frankly doesn’t know what they are talking about.

If they stay at 5 (which I expect) and take anyone other than Cousins or Monroe, I’ll be shocked.

I’ll get negatives from kings fans for this but if they dont draft Aminu they’re fools. i’ve made my point in other threads but he fits well with the team and fills a need because he can play wing or a stretch 4. the dude is the next josh smith and kings fans should want him because you’re pretty set at the 4 and 5

Most Kings fans would disagree with you. The team’s biggest need is still center. Even with Dalembert, they need someone to come off the bench (probably a 60/40 split to begin with), and possibly be the heir if Dalembert departs next summer.

Their second biggest need is another guard who can shoot the three-ball. They’re crowded at the 4, and I’m convinced they want to give Casspi and Greene a season to show what they can do at the 3. I, along with most people, agree that the Kings will likely need to get a lot better at SF before they can contend, but one of those guys is going to be a quality backup, and they need to figure out which one it is; and this is the season to do it.

There will be more drafts and free agent periods before the Kings are contending – they don’t need to fix everything right away. The plan seems to be to take a center at 5, and a guard at 33. This is the right move – it fills the two most immediate needs, and allows them to continue to grow and develop, while evaluating everyone heading into the next off-season.

Aminu would struggle for minutes, or keep someone else who deserves a look off the court. Either way, not good. There are two spots with minutes up for grabs, and fortunately the draft lines up perfectly for them to fill both of them nicely if they pick the right player at 5 (center) and 33 (guard), and don’t do something stupid…like draft Aminu.
