Kings suspend center Cousins indefinitely

(AP) -- DeMarcus Cousins was suspended indefinitely by the Sacramento Kings on Saturday for "unprofessional behavior and conduct detrimental to the team."
Cousins and Kings coach Keith Smart exchanged words in the locker room during halftime of Sacramento's 97-85 loss at the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. Smart benched Cousins for the entire second half and ordered him to remain in the locker room.
Cousins also was suspended one game without pay by the NBA for striking O.J. Mayo in the groin during a loss at Dallas on Dec. 10. Following a loss at San Antonio on Nov. 9, the league suspended Cousins two games without pay for confronting Spurs announcer Sean Elliott in a "hostile manner."
"We're trying to set a standard here, and when guys move below that standard, things are going to take place," Smart said after the game in Los Angeles. "We'll just move on to the next game and I'll make some decisions from there."
Cousins, drafted fifth overall in 2010, took responsibility for the incident after the game. The 22-year-old center is averaging a team-high 16.6 points and 9.5 rebounds to go with 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game this season.
"What happens in the locker room stays in the locker room. But I was wrong. I was wrong," said Cousins, who scored nine points in 20 minutes. "I'm a player that definitely wants to win every night, and I'm an emotional player. That's never going to change. But I shouldn't have responded back. Something was said, and I just should have stayed quiet. Is it a humbling thing? Yeah, I will say that. I mean, I messed up and I apologize to my teammates for responding the way I did and I'll move on from it."
Cousins' behavior has been well documented going back to high school and his one season at Kentucky.
He has mixed in dramatic and astonishing plays with outbursts against players, coaches, trainers and referees. Cousins clashed often last season with Kings coach Paul Westphal, who was fired after a 2-5 start - a move that came after he released a statement criticizing Cousins' commitment to the team and excusing him for a game.
After Cousins' workout over the summer in Las Vegas with the U.S. select team, which helped Team USA prepare for the London Olympics, USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said Cousins "has some growing up to do." Cousins later said he was just playing hard and that rubbed some the wrong way.
The Kings, who have dropped six of seven, host Portland on Sunday.
Thoughts? I'm honestly not surprised considering the way he has acted. Any ideas if any teams will trade for him? Is he even worth it?
EDIT: Also I just saw there was another thread with a similar title, so I changed my title to include this article and ideas for teams who will want to trade for Demarcus. My bad.
Bring him to Cleveland. Coach Scott will keep him in check. And might possibly be able to trade Varejao straight up for him at this point. Cleveland gets their center. Sacramento gets a solid all around player without the baggage.
I kinda like the idea of adding him to the core, but considering the way Scott has been riding Dion this season it is hard for me to imagine how he will handle Demarcus..Interesting thought though.
I know the Thunder really dont need to tamper with their roster but if I was GM Presti I would offer this and see if they would bite....
Maybe even a 1st rounder to sweeten the deal
If I am a coach that isnt very secure in his position, I dont want Cousins.. He has had trouble with his only 2 coaches in the NBA and, if my memory is right, he even had some trouble with Coach Cal and Kentucky..
This is the problem with these NBA teams stacking their line up with young guys. It leads to a lot of immaturity. I think every NBA should have to have at least 2 or 3 veteran players. Look at how much it helped Javale McGee to be around mature guys.
I like the idea of sending him to Cleveland. I think its worth the gamble if they cant get another lotto pick this year ( thunder trade is what im thinking of).
McGee and Blatche have turned it around now they are on veteran teams....
I don't know what teams would take a punt on Cousins, because the kings are not going to give him away. I have watched the Kings are few times this year and you can see their negative body language: not happy, arguing with refs or blaming another teammate. There is not much encourage and positive vibes there and I think Cousins is the ring-leader. T-Rob threw that nasty elbow and got suspended, do you think he would of done that if he was a spur, with Pop and Duncan ?
The pistons would gladly accept cousins..
The Bucks would also get a future 1st round pick
Well this would be a sure fire way to get Kings fans excited again. Pity it will never happen.
We have a Kings homer here lol
