valentinethey have a solid back court rotation and a developing front court really need a small forward.

JordoParticipantHow do you kings fan feel about Tyreke Evans? And Isaiah Thomas? You you guys feels comfortable with Thomas as you PG right now? Should they move Tyreke on draft day for Barnes? Not a Kings fans just curious about the Kings fans thoughts

delfamParticipantmaybe it’s just me but Kings have nobody in their backcourt.
Evans: can’t shoot, can’t pass, all he does is slash. Not really a PG or SG
Isiah: too small to play PG, really only a 6th man
Fredette: same as Isiah, better as a 6th
I just like players who fit into certain roles and positions and thier backcourt is garbage IMO, nobody has a position and nobody is starter material.

JordoParticipantMKG or Barnes may not even be on the board by the time they pick. The only reason I mentioned trading Evans was because I dont know where his position is with you guys. You got Thorton the the 2. Thomas has been starting at point. Where does Tyreke fit? 6th man? SF?

Wahoo757ParticipantI’m not a Kings fan but Tyreke has played very well since he changed to the small forward position and I don’t think the Kings should/will trade him on draft night as some of you have suggested.

boffacheeriosParticipantI think I speak for most kings fans when i say we value tyreke a lot more than thornton. Our entire fanbase is confused by the nellie ball smart has us playing (smallball). Our roster needs much more balance, but as it stands now the depth chart should look like:
PG: Isaiah, Jimmer, Terrence
SG: Tyreke, Thornton, Francisco
SF: Terrence Williams, Donte Greene
PF: Jason Thompson, Hayes, Donte
C: Demarcus, Whiteside, Hayes
clearly we have lots of restructuring to do, but cousins is a nice building block and Tyreke, as frustrating as he can be sometimes, is a unique talent who needs to be utilized properly. So do i think Harrison Barnes can help the Kings? Of course, but it doesn’t take much to help the kings after all. Remember Terrence Williams was signed on a 10 day and is now a major contributor, which shows the desperation of this team. If I’m making the moves, I’d send reke to orlando for ryan andreson (plus whatever it takes), pick up harrison in the draft, trade for another pick and take kendall marshall. In the second round I’d take Furkan Aldemir, as a good big off the bench.New lineup looks like:
PG: Kendall Marshall, Isaiah Thomas
SG: Marcus Thornton, Jimmer Fredette
SF: Harrison Barnes, Terrence Williams, Tyler Honeycutt
PF: Ryan Anderson, Jason Thompson, Furkan Aldemir
C: Demarcus Cousins, Hassan Whiteside, Chuck Hayes
Certainly not a championship contender, but the lineup facilitates a run and gun style with a playmaking point, a stretch 4 and good offensive sparks off the bench in Thomas and Fredette. Just an idea, but let me know what you guys think.

JoeWolf1Disagree, they have Thornton and Evans who are both capable scorers and Cousins who is one of the most promising low post scorers in the league. They also drafted Jimmer as a guy who can add points and shooting off the bench.
I agree, they need a small forward, but I think a more defensive minded glue type guy would be the best option. Most likely they won’t be able to address that in their draft pick this year unless they get #2 or #3 and MKG is available.
IMO, They should just get the BPA, and maybe try to trade for a small forward. They are just collecting draft picks at this point and they’re still a ways away from being a playoff team. They have plenty of assets to acquire a small forward through trade. In retrospect, I think drafting Kwahi Leonard instead of Jimmer would have been a much wiser pick, but hindsight is 20/20.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantIsaiah is averaging 14.9 points and 5.3 assists, shooting 49% from the field, 39% from three and 85% from the line in 24 games as a starter. As a rookie. On that alone he’s clearly a keeper. Figure in that due to his size he had one of the (you would think) most difficult transitions to the pros of any rookie and he looks like not only a starter but a good one for future.

Ghost01ParticipantI think that saying the Kings need a player that can score and do nothing else is kind of the wrong way of thinking. He is the one place I would love to see Anthony Davis though…

KayjayParticipantYou know Ty lawson starts? So why wouldn’t Thomas be able to start and continue starting? He is small but has proven he’s a scorer and can run offense at times. I value Evans more than thorton. But the problem is Reke’s consistency with his shot. Call me crazy, a small forward is what we need more than anything everyone knows that, but Thornton shoots too much, and Evans can barely shoot at all. So I agree, we should take the BPA.

delfamParticipant^ when has a PG under 6 ft ever won a NBA Title starting?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/04/2012 - 5:02pm #655586
Wahoo757ParticipantDelfam- I’m not sure exactly how many under 6 ft starting point guards have won a ring, but 5 foot 11 Avery Johnson won an NBA championship with the Spurs as a starter in 1999.

delfamParticipant^ the point is it’s not like the King’s backcourt is set. Thomas is not the answer at PG if you want to win a championship(which should be the goal of every team).
Kings trading back and trying to get two 1st round picks would be ideal. Drafting a Kendall Marshall/Terrence Ross combo or something like that would be ideal if Barnes/Robinson are not left.
Thomas/Thornton/Fredette are all undersized and Tyreke can’t shoot/pass so he doens’t have a position.
You guys keep saying they have a good backcourt but IMO it’s just a bunch of bench players and one talented player with no real position. Why not trade back and try to get a real PG(Marshall) and a shooter that you desperately need(Ross)?

Ghost01ParticipantIf they pick with Davis, Robinson, Beal, Drummond, MKG, and even Barnes all off the board, they probably will trade down.Whats intersting about Sac though is since Reke doesn’t really have a true position and Cousins coould play 4 or 5, realistcally any of those players would fit for them. Except Barnes and Beal shoot ALOT and that’s not exactly what they need.

TruettParticipantNot being a real kings fan, I was interested in seeing what people thought… For the most part, I think fans thought that they had to keep their group together for another year at least…some wanted to trade Thornton instead of tyreke.. They all wanted either a PF or SF in the draft. I think the kings will be able to find a decent prospect given their draft range right now.. interesting though that a lot of posters where higher on jimmer a few weeks ago then they are now…

antiwork3000ParticipantLoving Thomas’ play. His game reminds me of Nick Van Exel
0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/04/2012 - 6:35pm #655634
antiwork3000ParticipantAs far as Barnes and Kings are concerned, I think he would be the best fit for the Kings (if they keep the same personnel). Having another spot up shooter other than Thornton would be immense for this team. Was suppose to be Jimmer but he can’t defend enough to stay on the floor.
But I have a weird feeling after the workouts and media hype, he’ll end up going #1.

tuck243ParticipantWon the scoring title… The HOF Isaiah Thomas was 5-11… Tim Hardaway… Chris Paul… Should I continue??? I mean I don’t think it matters that much anymore… I feel its more about strength than anything else… Outside of Deron Williams, Andre Miller, and even Chris Paul no PG in the league is going to take you into the post… I haven’t seen too many PG’s play great defense against elite PG’s anyway… I think we tend to think too much into height and not enough production… Rondo maybe??? Or Mario Chalmers… Its just don’t see a 5’9 Thomas getting killed any more than what a 6’3 Derrick Rose does… Plus he gets to the rim… Which is the biggest thing at that height… Or period for any backcourt or wing player…

BleedingBlueParticipantThere’s no team in the league that NEEDS Harrison Barnes. Getting a 3rd scoring option who’s not a good playmaker should not be the top priority for any team’s draft.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/07/2012 - 7:03pm #656617
KayjayParticipantHave absolutely no idea the fuck they are building. They need to draft an entire roster. Only two or three players are good enough to stay there.
