thunderforthewinParticipantDo you think Kevin Martin would be a multiple all star if he was on a different team?
I personally think so, he is in top 5/10 of scoring for the past few seasons and a huge talent
i believe the most underrated player in the leaguethoughts?

MagikKnickParticipantI never give too much credit to the ‘best player on the worst team’

AirJuggernautHe can’t defend anybody. Plus: scoring
Minus: he’s 6’7 and can’t contribute to generating stops on defense0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/13/2009 - 1:53pm #221415
llperezMartin is a very good scorer, but that’s about it. No defense, doesn’t make his teammates better. But he is well worth his contract(10 mill per) and the Kings need someone who can produce points. He also get’s a lot of baskes on break aways getting to the line and just making something out of broken plays. They actually don’t draw up a lot of plays for him to get his points. As for him being an all-star, no, probably not on any team.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIMO, he could be an all-star if he played for the Cavs. Off of Lebron, he could be awesome.

torontoraptors10ParticipantI would much rather have Kevin Martin than Delonte West and then Anthony Parker coming off the bench! That would be pretty awesome.

sheltwon3ParticipantThere are a lot of shooters that have made the All Star game without playing much defense. Martin has been hurt so people are starting to undervalue what he brings but I do think that right now it will be tough for him because there are so many talented twos and he does not really stand out.

rickyD510ParticipantIf mo williams can be an allstar so can Kevin Martin. Last years roster included Ray allen and AI who did absolutely nothing. Also how long has Lebron been playing defense for?

i also agree with the dude above me… if mo williams can kevin martin can…

Chicago1980ParticipantHe doesnt do things to make other players better he doesnt rebound well he doesnt pass well he is a shooter/scorer thats about it and thats one of the reasons why the kings arent going to be good for a while.

PureshooterParticipantKevin Martin is a good scorer, but he’s not a jump-out-of-your-seat highlight kind of guy (which is what really gets attention). Also, I agree that he’s lacking in defense and should be more of a role player than what he is. His game reminds me of Michael Redd a little.

quincey hodgesok im not saying martin is better then durant or has a more upside but why arent some of these same issues brought up with durant? some say hes almost as good as lebron or a all star right now.but his team didnt win much last year..he avrages a lil bit more rebounds then kevin..one more point and a lil less assits. and durants defense is also suspect..pretty much the only thing durant does very well is score/shoot

AirJuggernautis younger and I think that he can play good team defense at 6’10 with good foot speed
Larry Bird was 6’10 but he had McHale and Parish backing him upI think until u see Durant get more post defense on his team
and he learns how to create assists
he won’t win much no matter how sweet his jumper is. (and it is very sweet but He needs more help)0

youngmagParticipantHonestly yes the main reason he does score is because the Kings are horrible but your forgetting the fact that he doesn’t shoot a low percentage at all for someone who is taking all there shots he is very underrated and can make the allstar team on another team…..especially if he had a great passing pg like Paul. Shoot he’d even thrive in Chi-Town Salmons and the Chucker Ben Gordon did.

AirJuggernautBen Gordon wasn’t offered an extension because they wanted MORE DEFENSE in the backcourt.
Enter John Salmons exit Ben Gordon/Kevin Martin. Salmons was the one guarding Paul Pierce in that series remember. The Kings are infatuated with finesse players. It’s their style. Just like San Antonio has fundamentals/underrated Europeans and Lakers go after the stars. Kings get style points but not wins. Defense wins games.
Ask Trevor Ariza.
Kevin Martin is a very poor defensive stopper.0

JNixonParticipantHe’s a great scorer and shooter but I don’t like him being an all-star unless he gets traded to an Eastern Conference team. Too one-dimensional and he doesn’t make enough “wow” plays. He needs to play for a team with a well-known superstar and be the “Robin” to the “Batman” to get more attention from the basketball world.

quincey hodgesthe bulls were willing to keep ben reguardless of his defense. they didnt keep him because they didnt feel he wa worth the money he was asking for..thats the reason they didnt keep him

AirJuggernautJohn Salmons defense> Ben Gordon’s offense+defense (4optsvsRayAllens50LMAO)
lot of people fall in love with a player because they put up numbers
Had Kevin Garnett been playing u think the series would have been even remotely closeI say good 4 the Bulls 4 making the right step defensively. Pistons heck I like Ben Gordon dunking over the Bucks. U catch that the other night. LOL bucks funny name for a basketball team.

rtbtParticipantI can’t comment on Martin because Sacramento is NEVER on TNT or any other NBA games, so I never get to see him play. The NBA shuts out about 10 to 12 teams that aren’t allowed on television. I understand their motive but it’s a stupid policy. Everyone should be on at least one national TNT game.
