Marc Stein says KLove about to enter free agency. If true, this sucks for the Cavs.

FrozetoesParticipantHe grew up by Portland and went to college in LA, so you would think that both teams would be good spots for him.
After LeBron started talking crap on social media about him, you could see Love’s exit coming.
Whether it was Love not fitting in with LeBron or the other way around, it was obvious that Love didn’t look happy in Cleveland. Considering LeBron talked the Cav’s into trading a future star for Love, his attitude makes no sense.

goddagParticipantI think you guys are getting to far ahead of yourselves. I think it been known Love would opt out, to get a max contract.
At the worst, Cleveland will do a sign and trade for him. So they won’t be left with nothing.
I’m not saying he’s a happy guy over there and maybe seen the writing on the wall during the playoffs when he wasn’t playing.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/24/2015 - 11:34am #993672

GBeeParticipantWow, you guys really don’t know how this works. This doesn’t mean he’s not re-signing with the Cavs. What it does is enable him to make more money next year. Long-term or short-term deal, he’ll make more money than if he opted in.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThis doesn’t mean he’s leaving CLE. This isn’t surprising though. Everybody expected Love to opt out.
I personally think he should leave though. I think it’d be the right move for both teams. CLE can spend a lot less on a plain old stretch four who won’t mind standing in the corner waiting for a LBJ kickout.
I’d like to see Love sign with Boston (there are reports they’re no longer interested in him though) or Portland (if LA leaves). I’ve never thought Love was a top five player, etc and all that, but I was frustrated for him watching the way CLE used him offensively. I think Brad Stevens and Terry Stotts would be great coaches for him.
Will be interested to see where he ends up.

nill650Participantcavs won’t sign and trade love because they cannot sign a full mid level while they are over the tax apron.
it has been common knowledge that love would likely sign in all season so now that he has opted out, it looks bad for the misinformed…but the truth is opting out gives him the most control and allows him to get a 1 yr deal done with cleveland after july 1st. then the following season he will hit the market looking for a huge payday.
if things don’t go well for him in cleveland this coming season, he will probably be dealt.
also cavs bringin in an aldridge or similar through a sign and trade would eliminate their ability to bring everyone back as well, and so it makes more sense for them to seek to sign love to a 1 yr deal.
it is my belief they will retain most of the core but might lose smith as he apparently is considering opting out,and although i think he might get paid, its unlikely more than 1 or two teams would have interest.
cavs need a better back up pg so i would not be surprised if they trade somebody along with haywood to do that. I don’t expect they will be interested in a rookie back up at 24. maybe a delon wright or a terry rozier could get the spot, but something tells me neither will be on the bd, and its more likely if they don’t trade it, the cavs will just take the most nba ready rotation player and say to heck with upsides…give ’em senior like christmas or powell.
