pistonsmanParticipantKevin Durant is a good player he is tall but needs alot more meat in his bones. Can shoot the ball, drive to the hoop and finish. So why are people talking about him and saying he is a average player. From what I seen of him he looks to be a All Star to me, I think he will make the All Star team this year. He plays with the Thunder so he doesn’t get much attention but alot of good guys play with bad teams and don’t get recognition for what they do. So people Durant is a good player.

quincey hodgeshe can survive without getting bigger as long as he gets stronger..he doesnt even need to do that really because hes shown that at his weight and strength he can still be effective..alot of guys havent gotten awhole lot bigger but did pretty well( reggie miller, tayshuanprince, kg)..i think it coul dbe a valid arguement if he was constantly struggling to finish because of his size or constantly injured because of being too weak or thin

pistonsmanParticipantTrue those guys have gotten no bigger and have had good careers. I am just saying if he is going up against someone bigger than him he might need more weight or strength.

The Big Okg is 250 and played the 1-4 position in Minnesota
durant put weight on this summer so he can play some more solid defense0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 11:44am #225101
quincey hodgesyeah but hes also gonna be going up against another sf who is bigger..probably not taller….and prince goes up against guys who are bigger then him all the time..and sometimes taller and does pretty well..durant has been in the nba for 2 years now and has done well against bigger guys

JNixonParticipantYea Durant maybe be skinny and weak, but his arms are so long that it offsets alot of things. His lack of weight and strengh limits him some on D, but he’s shown that he can be an elite player without it. He’s much more than average, so whoever said that can kick rocks.

R-Dot-13ParticipantKevin Durant is a superstar waiting to explode.
Him or Carmelo will lead the league in scoring this year.0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 11:48am #225105
JNixonParticipantI got my money on Melo, he really has looked unbelievable during the offseason and so far during the season.

The Big OTayshaun Prince is 6’9 215 lbs and was held to 3 ppg against Lebron last year
lets stop comparing the two for pete’s sake OKDurant is a legitimate 6’10, other 6’10 small forwards Rashard Lewis
durant has been in the nba for 2 years now and has done well against bigger guys
he’s competing for the #1 spot!!! he ain’t competing against Tayshaun Prince
u know who I’m talking bout

quincey hodgestrue iggy..havent really seen his weight limit him on defense as far as defending a small foward though too often….he isnt that much lighter then other sf at 230…danny granger is 228, butler is 228 jefferson is 225 maggette is 225 lewis is 230 and marion is 228 so he doesnt really need to get bigger to become a better defender..some dummy on here said you cant be a good defener if you arent big or athletic but of course we all know thats bs

He’s much more than average, so whoever said that can kick rocks.he’s 6’10 SF hall of fame ability, I’m tired of the Tayshaun Prince comparisons (polar opposite of Durant)
they R different in so many ways its ridiculous0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 11:59am #225115
JNixonParticipantJoe Johnson and Marvin Williams abused him last year in the post and so did Kobe, and once when I watched Al Harrington did. He is less effective defensively the closer he is to the rim, and he isn’t very quick-footed either on the perimeter. It isn’t looked at as a big deal because such a scoring threat, but it does factor in the Thunder’s wins and losses.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 12:02pm #225117
quincey hodgesyeah hes just not that good of a defender…and think about the players he abused who are bigger then he is…he does need to get stronger though..just doesnt have to get bigger….

The Big OKevin Durant hates all this by the way lol he has something going on with one of the ESPN writers
bcuz he has a bad plus/minus scorethat said Durant will give almost anybody 50 when he puts his mind to it
anytime he’s open u just KNOW its going in in his prime> Rookie Sophomore game
just think about it he’ll be going against all those guys in his class in a couple years and dropping 46 on them lolno one can predict the future though
but here’s an article I foundDurant is often criticized as being a one-dimensional, offensive-minded player with a low shooting percentage, but in reality, he’s developed into a versatile defender.
Not only does the 20-year-old lead the Sonics with a 19.5-point scoring average, he often defends the opponent’s best player in the final quarter.
On Wednesday, Durant contained Michael Redd for most of the game, but he had difficulty against Villanueva and Mason.
“I’m biased because I want everything to go my way,” he said. “Obviously, I’ve got to be smarter on how I play defense. I’ve just got to learn the little tricks of the trade on what I can do and what I can’t do in this league as far as playing defense. I’ve just got to educate myself on how I need to play without fouling. So I blame that on myself.
“I thought I was there, but I might have been a tad late. In this league, you have to be set. The next time I know what I’ve got to do.”
with that said Durant is one of those guys who can offset his defense with his scoring (plus he at least slows ppl down with his wingspan etc)

JNixonParticipantYea if your skinny but strong, like Taj Gibson or even someone like Tayshaun Prince it really doesn’t matter because your going to be a presence no matter what.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 12:07pm #225120
The Big Ostop saying Tayshaun Prince! ur putting pressure on durant to be the next Tayshaun Prince on defense lol
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 12:10pm #225124
quincey hodgestru iggy thats why it is a good idea for him to get stronger to be better on the block on d…but he doesnt need to become a elite defender either and he will get better on d with time..right now its not a big issue though

The Big O^silent treatment^
Commenter coooach brought up what I think is a small, but growing, sentiment among Pistons fans on this post, stating:
The (Tayshaun Prince) gets used up by every scoring three in the league, and has his worst offensive games against them. That is the spot on the floor that needs the biggest upgrade.”
The immediate reaction is an indignant one. How dare you criticize Prince’s defense, did you not see the block?
But let’s think about this rationally: is it possible that Prince is an overrated defensive player?
http://blog.mlive.com/fullcourtpress/2009/10/prince_defense_post.htmljust keeping it real/giving u guys the daily INSIDER news from a SCOUTING perspective
don’t hate appreciate 😛

whiteflashParticipantThis arguement always gets me. Yeah Durant could stand to put on a little muscle and get stronger, but the guy averaged 25 a game last year. It’s not like he has trouble being effective. He’s not Jamal Mashburn people, he’s the second coming of George Gervin. I also laughed watching NBA tv during the preseason when they did a poll and Durant was voted to be most improved. The guy put up 25 a game!!! To get most improved he’s have to average 40.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 12:18pm #225132
The Big Osecond coming of George Gervin,
33 points in a quarter (whatup Melo!)
63 points to “beat” Jordan’s idol for a scoring titlegervin never won one championship, and that is the ULTIMATE goal> to win
scoring isn’t everything but Durant can dominate a game on offense alone
but it isn’t hard to see why his teams get beat often, DEFENSE

JNixonParticipantThey mean they think he could be better than 25 ppg this year, and if not he could lead the Thunder to an improved record. It’s not that they expect his points to raise by 15, its that they expect a significant improvement from the Thunder as a team (with him as the leader) and they expect him to challenge for ppg leader in the NBA. I’d say that would qualify him for MIP.
0- Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 1:38pm #225162
whiteflashParticipantThe MIP is about individual improvement. Don McLean won it for the Bullets when they sucked. Not saying Durant won’t improve ’cause I think he’s got a really high ceiling, but that award is for someone who basically comes outta nowhere.

d-grizzlyParticipantover the whole summer, i was screaming that this kid will be unstoppable at age 25. at age 20, he averaged 25ppg. he’s learning more go-to moves. i think by age 25, this kid will be able to score from the inside, ( at will ), and damage a lot of people from the outside on a consistent basis.

but I get flak for trying to give u guys scouting reports on players and u guys
get all butt hurt, at 16 if somebody tried to give me advice on basketball I would soak it up and try
to see things from a different perspectivebut I guess we have different goals in life but thats ok bcuz the cream always rises to the top lil kids (and quincey) >:)

lalailaParticipantwe talked lost of times about what a good scorer he is …but how about this,no matter with strenght he will lead the SFs in rebounds believe me, 11&12 in with two games is so nice
