auberParticipantI’m not hating on the guy at all so don’t think I am by posting this thread. My problem is how many of you think he’s going to average 30ppg next season. Does everyone of you people forget the emergence of Russel Westbrook and the drafting of James Harden? If anything I see his numbers going down much like Rudy Gays did with the drafting of OJ Mayo. If any of his numbers go up a staggering amount, it’s going to be his assists next season. I honestly can see Durants numbers being 24ppg, 7rpg, 5apg, 2spg, 1bpg, 140 3PTM, 540 FTM and shooting 49% next season.

sheltwon3ParticipantI see what you saying but Durant is starting to get to the line more and also he takes smart shots and makes most of his wide open shots. I think with the depth they will have he will average at least 27 points because he is there go to guy. He will also shoot above 50 percent and maybe 48 if he averages 30 points.

catoosanumber22i got to agree with auber on this one even though the Thunder is my favorite team

KevinDurantRocksParticipantHis scoring isn’t going to jump but i dont see it decreasing.

FutureoftheGameI hope his assist do go up to like 5 or 6 a game. That will make him most definatly the 3rd best SF in the NBA only behind Lebron (duh) and Melo. However, if his team wins, he will probably jump Melo.

esperanzafleet69Participantgood assesment but theres no chance hes gonna average 2 steals and 1 block… maybe 1 and 1 at the most… all those other stats are identical from last year basically.. but yeah he could definately still up his scoring from 25 to something like 30…. 5 pts isnt much at all…. it all depends on the pt he gets i guess

GreenLanternParticipantI don’t see why anyone would think what auber said was hating…I think Durant will become more of a distributor in the next two years instead of his scoring increasing dramatically. Durant doesn’t seem to be a selfish player, and he knows he has areas to improve in his game. He shoots a high % from everywhere on the floor, so it’s also possible his scoring increases as OKC gets more distributors in the rotation instead of him hogging the ball more (example: Harden is very good and savvy as a passer)

FutureoftheGameDoes anyone think he will ever average something like 21ppg, 9reb, and 8ast? I dont mean next year, im just talking ever??

jojososaParticipantStill average 25-27, even wif there depth, he is going to b taking most of tha shots, and he shoots a high fg, and 3 point %, so I could see him averaging these numbers
26.6ppg
8.1rpg
4.3apg
1.3spg
1.4bpgStill solid numbers

auberParticipantI don’t Think 2 spg is that farfetched for a player of his caliber. He is a defensive nightmare with his wingspan. In my mind he can be the best player in this league within 3 seasons. He’s just that athletically gifted. I honestly see his scoring dropping in the near future, peaking at maybe 28-29ppg, but not 30.

sheltwon3ParticipantThat is why I said 27 points but then again dude shoots a good percentage even while guarded so he could possible score 30 on fewer shots. I think it would not be good for the thunder for him to score less than 25 and also for those of you who says he needs to average the same number like Lebron. Get real. Dude does not need to average those numbers to be and all around player. Basketball is a team game where everyone has their roles. Their team is too deep for his to handle the ball as much now. He should get the ball in better positions now. He is a score like Kobe and Kobe still manages to be an all around player but he does not always put up a lot of assists and rebounds because that is not his role and there are people on his team to do all that. The assists he tends to have but with Gasol Bynum, and Odom, he should not be going for rebounds. He has already proven he can rebound the year he grabbed like 10 a game. Durant game is growing but he may not reflect his stats like you want but since he is the go to guy, he will make him impossible to guard.

auberParticipantI think he realizes that he needs to win not by himself, but with a solid core around him. He’s not at Texas anymore where he had to be a do all player. It’s one of the main reasons I love his game that much more than Lebrons and Kobe’s. The kid can flat out ball period, but quite frankly doesn’t have to. He is the face of the franchise let’s not forget that, but I think him scoring too much for this team can be a bad thing. Anything higher than 28ppg hurts his team more than helps him.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/31/2009 - 12:23pm #193759
sheltwon3ParticipantNot really. Everyone of that team with the exception of Westbrook is very unselfish. Also if you look at how Durant gets his points. He does not force the issue. No one gets mad if someone scores within the offense. Dude can just flat out score and he picks his spots well. I think people see Lebron do all that assist and dont realize how much he has the ball in his hand and Durant can put up points withone dominating the ball. One person dominating the ball hurts a team not just a person scoring a lot of the point because they are just that good.

bluedevils12Participantthat Kevin Durant has to become more of a distributor this season. i mean he’s not a secret anymore in the league and teams kno wat he can do now. teams will key on durant and send the double teams which means other guys have 2 step up. thats why i like the harden pick becuz he isnt afraid to shoot and he was brought in to be a good piece to the puzzle

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, Durant can’t average 30?.. try 30.1, not bad if you ask me.
