valentinelast week was a good test for the team and a good one for cousins against good big men( he failed)
i think this test is a bigger one for wall( and eric) because the uconn guards aren’t freshmen they are vets and very good ones at that. i still think wall is very very good but this test will be a bigger one then against the freshman guards that unc has. especially on defense against a player who is just as fast or faster then he is(walker) or against a strong athletic guard who can score. this will also be another test fro cousins against big men who play very physical and are great shot blockers. really looking forward to this game0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/09/2009 - 9:50am #236914
td8118ParticipantIt will be a good game for nothing else but that we get to see John Wall….Kemba Walker will hopefully be able to stay with him and Dyson could have a big game….I think it will be a close game most of the way but CONN doesnt have enough offensive firepower

gatorheelsParticipantJohn Wall just absolutely took over this game towards the end. He is definitely a very very clutch player.

Rock_Cat78ParticipantThat Wall guy is pretty good eh? I hope all my fellow UK fans are cherishing this kids talent this season. You don’t see many like him anywhere.

kaceyParticipantWow. John Wall is amazing. He is living up to the well-deserved hype. Big play after big play. Tons of energy and he seems like he gets quicker every game. Wall looked like a blur on my tv and I was watching the game in HD.

kaceyParticipantYou sure Wall won’t hang around for another year? He looks like he is enjoying the college basketball life. haha
Some of my UK buddies told me he has to walk around campus with a hoodie on and his head down so he can make it to class on time.

Rock_Cat78Participantkacey, I’d love it, as all UK fans would, if John came back for another season. With that said, no chance I’m afraid. The kid is a rare breed.

JNixonParticipantJohn Wall is truly amazing. He’s like the Vince Young of college basketball lol…

WhyParticipantAmazing!
I can’t say enough about John Wall…just a real special talent. He is so quick once he learns to harness his speed and play within himself he will literally be unstoppable. And that pull up J at the top of the key that he has! Unstoppable. I really like this guy. As someone else said, he truly is a clutch performer. 12 of UK’s last 15 points is amazing…And forget Assist to Turnover ratios, we need to start doing steals to turnover ratios because John Wall is just that good… Seriously I can’t stop rambling about the kid. He’s young and obviously still a little inconsistent but damn he is a really really special talent. I wouldn’t say he’s head and shoulders better than Derrick Rose, but I think just by watching a few plays, you can see he’s further along at this point than Rose was.
Not to mention Calipari. What a great coach, is there a better coach at letting his players do their thing while still keeping them reigned in and playing within the system? Just a great college coach…
Now for DeMarcus Cousins. This guy is a whiny bitch. DeMarcus you fail. If this kid goes to the NBA before he’s a Junior at least I can promise he will have a career in the NBA that equals ZERO. He complains and complains, I am not a believer in him.
Patterson on the other hand continues to prove what I thought. He’s a dangerous talent. He’s got a silky smooth shot out to 15-18 feet and with his strength and athleticism could be a tough matchup for most teams.
Kentucky is legitimate, ladies and gentlemen. John Wall, lives up to the hype and then some. I’m a real believer in him not just being “good” or even “great’ but he has the makings of a top-notch NBA player.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantI think Patrick Patterson needs more touches. It’s rare to have a big man that can consistently score inside and out. I loved the fact that Wall was hitting that pull-up jumper. If he hits that shot consistently and cuts down on turnovers (even if it means a dip in stats), then this Kentucky team will only get better and better. Dick Vitale said that Wall has the edge on Rose. I don’t completely agree with that statement YET, but there’s plenty of season left. I’m kinda surprised that he didn’t go “super saiyan” on some of those dunks.

WhyParticipantCalipari has really had some great guards hasn’t he?
Derrick Rose
Tyreke Evans
John WallEnough said.
It’s just a hypothesis, but the reason Wall might not have gone “Super Saiyan” (love the saying) is because he is being bothered by knee tendinitis. That’s the reason he’s wearing the pad. As you can see in those videos he doesn’t have a knee pad. Just a guess though. I was curious too, cause he obviously can do whatever he wants out there on the open floor basically.
And yes I think Patterson needs more shots too.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantDid anyone else hear Dicky V saying that Wall is better than Rose?? When he said it, I was dumbfounded. Wall is great but they have only played 9 games. I think, after watching him, he shoots better than Rose but Rose seems a little more explosive. It could be because Rose is so direct with his movements and doesnt waste alot of time when charging where as Wall likes to shake is man a little more to get him loose. IDK but it was a bold statement by Mr. V.

WhyParticipantHe didn’t say “Wall is better than Rose” He said that he believes at this point in his NCAA career he’s further along than Rose was, I would happen to agree. I mean I can understand disagreeing but know what he’s actually saying first…
Now better right now that Rose is on the Bulls? Umm, no

The8thDeadlySinParticipantMy bad. I thought it was understood that I mean Rose as a Freshman vs Wall as a Freshman. Thank you for clearing that up.

lalailaParticipantWall is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and i start not to understand hate for Cousins yes he was bad vs UNC, but now once again just around 20min and double double against really good defender in Alex(again i forget his second name lol), i you are saying Patt once again proves that he is dangerous talent after 16/4 game so WHY ISN’T better sized younger Cousins with 10/10 in almost twice less time
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 7:11am #237103
quincey hodgesbecause cousins just isnt that good… im sure you watched the game right lalia..he scored 6 of his 10 points off of someone creating shots for him..when he gets the ball and has to create shots for his self it doesnt turn out well( other then the one spin dunk he had. he just cant play with or better against good big men. he can kill small sorry big men all day but hes shown against good big men he cant do the same thing. even before he got in foul trouble you could tell he wasnt ready and foul trouble just shows how bad he is on defense and foul prone. its easy to think cousins is better then he is right now looking at stats but watching the game showed another story. he would be making a hugeeeeeeee mistake if he decided to come out. he would get punished horribly in the nba next year. his best bet would be to stay one more or even 2 more years because right now hes far from ready skill wise and then mentally is even farther from ready. like i said before i had to wait untill he plays against better big men and he has an now im making a fair judgement

lalailaParticipantno this time i wasn’t able to watch..but however i have seen him and i think potential is the key, when he plays smaller defenders he now how to out muscled them and againt bigs he really sometimes show some signs that he can be versatility big someday, who can shoot outside shoots show some handles and something like that
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/10/2009 - 7:51am #237123
quincey hodgeskey word is someday…today isnt the day though..he struggles very badly against good big men. if you would have watched him you would have seen how wild he is when he trys to creat his own shot. he doesnt get high off the floor either and is starting to turn into the black hole when he touchs the ball
