I really like Wiltjer coming off the bench and providing some instant scoring but can Cauley and Noel play together?

Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Cauley, Noel – would make an interesting zone D.

Harrow/Wiltjer pick and pop will be tough to guard with Poythress and Goodwin spacing the floor and whatever big is in the game diving to the basket for a lob.

Why not start wiltjer and put Cauley off the bench that would give them some perimeter shooting since none of their backcourt is really a great shooter and also give them a scoring threat from the 4. Yes their interior defense could have been really good with Noel and Cauley protecting the paint, neither is a reliable option on offense though and this team with that starting 5 might struggle to score.

    I think UK will start

    Harrow

    Goodwin

    Poythress

    Wiltjer

    Noel

Ths year’s potential lineup scenarios are interesting, because of the versatility of Poythress, Goodwin, and Wiltjer.

I think there will be a feeling-out process. I doubt Calipari has set any lineup in stone. I think Wiltjer will start, in large part because of all the time Noel missed this summer. He’s not near where he will be by the end of the season, and he is pretty limited offensively, as is Cauley, so I think he’ll want Wiltjer’s shooting in there ealry, to go with the year of experience under his belt.

Poythress and Goodwin appear to be locks to start, or at least play starter minutes. I’ve heard rumors of Harrow possibly being brought off the bench, which would be very interesting if it happened.

If I had to guess, I say Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Wiltjer, and Noel will be the 5 to start the year. Cauley is the wild card, because his potential emergence puts any of the 5 starters on notice since several guys could be shifted around in the event that he were to start at some point.

This group will be incredibly explosive.

I read somewhere… I think ESPN… that the starting lineup to start the season will be Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Wiltjer, Noel with Cauley, Mays, and Hood off the bench.

Not as good as last year’s starting five but still very formidable.
