No not Wiggins, yet, but PG Dominique Hawkins. Hawkins is Mr. Kentucky this year and had a meteoric rise on recruiting circuits while leading Madison Central to the State Championship. He had offers from Wright St. and other mid majors, but in the last 2 months he had been getting a lot of attention from Xavier, Indiana, Louisville and Kentucky. He was expected to announce a few weeks ago, but waited to see if Kentucky would offer.

I had heard about him a few months back when all these High majors started getting involved. He probably is a 4 year player or 3 year the least but I do think he will get some PT to give Andrew Harrison a break and in the 2014-2015 season I don’t think UK will get Tyus Jones. And Emmanuel Mudiay is a home body so I’m not sure about him either so he should see the floor more the following season.

He was a walk-on with full academic scholarship, but because of his handwork in practice and having open scholarships Calipari gave him a athletic scholarship to free up a academic for someone else who may deserve it.

Polson is now a senior, but has already graduated and is enrolled in grad-school for next year so he may go back to Walk-on and get back his academic scholarship.

I hope he’s got his transfer schools lined up for next spring.

Who can make sure that he never has another Harrow situation. You virtually need one four year player at point, the wing and center, that way if you ever need to fill a gap year and bring in a big fish, you are still tourney bound. Coach K does it all the time.

You mean core guys like Jon Hood?
Even back ups want enough minutes to validate their decision.

I can almost guarantee that Kentucky will use “non-traditional” lineups to get these higher rated guys the minutes they were promised. Getting these 5 star recruits to commit and then giving some of their minutes to “core” players goes against their system.

If anyone has ESPN Insider this article “Will Hawkins find PT at Kentucky?” by Luke Lapinski looks like it might have a projected minutes allotment.

I agree, but if they had a senior pg that was better than Harrow this year, he would have gotten his shot and if you always get the top recruit at pg, then you sit him all four. Coaches only have to give a wink and a nod in they want a guy gone to free up a scholarship. If he ends up wanting this guy to go all Cal has to do is sit him out of team scrimmages or not talk to him for a couple weeks and he will be at Kentucky St. next semester.

Like Vargas, a guy that’s good and could start a lot of places as a upperclassman, but doesn’t at First Round University.

I watched highlights of this guy on Youtube. He actually looks decent, highly doubt he will be receiving any minutes in situations other than blowouts next year but he is for sure not another Sam Malone or Brain Long, a guy literally only on the team only to fill out the roster. He can be an alright player down the road just not right away. The state of Kentucky may not be known for producing big prospects but that must be quite something to be named Mr. Basketball for Kentucky whether you’re highly ranked or not. Unless your named Mr. Basketball for North Dakota or Wyoming you gotta be at least something to win that award for your state.
