Huge last night versus FSU with 23 points, 7 boards and 2 blocks against a pretty big and athletic Seminole front line.  Mcadoo was in foul trouble all game and fouled out late without scoring.  Brice Johnson had foul trouble also.  Joel James has basically dropped off the face of the earth for Roy giving Meeks the starting Center spot and he has played very well.  There are obvious comparisons to Sean May.  Meeks isn’t as skilled as May yet, but I think he has a chance to be better.  He obviously needs to get into better condition.  He has been blocked at the rim more than any big at the country.  He’ll never be a great athlete, but dropping 20 pounds and getting stronger with help him maximize his athletic potential.  If he busts his ass over the summer, he could be a great player for UNC next year.

Not so sure about his pro potential but I love Meeks’ game. He’s a great outlet passer, fights for every rebound and he can score at times, needs to play a little more agressive in the post but he could be a 4 year guy and a very important player for UNC these next three years. If he can drop some weight and dedicate this offseason to improvement, possibly and All-American type of player by his senior year.

Assuming McAdoo leaves, I project UNC’s lineup next year to be

    C Kennedy Meeks

    F Brice Johnson

    F Justin Jackson

    G Theo Pinson

    G Marcus Paige

Then the key reserves would be Joel Berry, Joel James, JP Tokoto, Nate Britt and Isaiah Hicks. Stilman White is supposed to be returning next year but I don’t see him getting minutes with there also being Paige, Berry and Britt and the fact that he hasn’t played in 2 years.

I believe JP Tokoto will start Roy likes to start his upperclassmen over his freshmen and while sometimes I don’t  agree(ex Dexter Strickland over PJ Hairston) in this case i’d agree. JP Tokoto by next year will be a junior and be one of the leaders of the team. He’s really impressed this year in how he’s improved from his freshman year. He has guarded the other team’s best wing player all year and if he works hard in the offseason hopefully work on his jumper even more.

Next year’s definite starters to me would be Paige, Tokoto, Johnson (if McAdoo leaves) and Meeks. The last spot will go to either Jackson, Pinson or maybe even Berry or Britt if he decides to go two PGs.

Next year’s team looks like it can be pretty good and hopefully the team lives up.

He knows how to use his body that’s for sure.  He isn’t afraid to mix it up in the post.  I expect another huge game against Duke.  They have no one that can guard him.

The way he’s been playing lately it’d be surprisng to see Paige stay. If he can keep this up he’s gonna be a major riser on draft boards.

Piage, Pinson, Tokoto, Johnson , Meeks -starters(if Mac leaves)

Britt, Berry, Jackson, Hicks, Hubert/Joel James are the backups

: next years lineup I think JP and Brice will make a big jumps & become great players.

*I like Justin Jackson but I believe hes too slow to play 2 guard, so pinson will have to start there. Britt might start off the season in the starting lineup but I fully expect Pinson there at some point.

*Paige is not ready for the pros , hes too skinny(right now) and often dribbles into too much into trouble(he has to work on pentrating the lane smarter). I think he is a bordline lottery pick in 2015.

    * I believe Theo Pinson is a real big sleeper, the improvement he made  is remarkable. I believe he is a potential one and done.

*I love Meeks he the best Freshman big I’ve seen(other than Randle and Vonleh), I not sure about his pro potential until after his weight losswe’ll have a better idea of it. He already posseses pro moves(ex. step back fade-aways)

*I think at worst UNC is a top 5 team next year

…a little bit of Kevin Love in him. He’s a great passer, shockingly nimble for a guy his size, solid offensively, a good rebounder, and meh on D. If he drops some weight and develops a bit more of a post game, I could see him as a poor man’s Kevin Love in the pros.

UNC is going to be good next year… but top 5?

Do Duke, Kansas, Arizona, Michigan not exist? Strong arguments for Syracuse, Wisconsin, Villanova and San Diego St for being better next year too…

I am high on Theo Pinson and a great UNC team is good for CBB but some people are very bullish..

I understand Duke, Kansas and Arizona but why Michigan? Why would  them in the top 5 over UNC in the top be any more realistic. Same goes for Syracuse, Wisconsin, Villanova and San Diego St they’re losing a lot of their current best players while UNC returns most if not all rotation guys with adding the #3 ranked recruiting class. Yes UNC probably won’t be top 5 but I wouldn’t be suprised if they’re in the top 10.

Michigan- Future 1st rounders in Stauskas, McGary, Levert and GR3 with highly rated Irvin and Walton becoming sophomores plus top 30 recruit Kameron Chatman and RS top 100 bigman Mark Donnal. Spike Albrecht and Jon Horford for veteran leadership.

Wisconsin- returns everyone but Ben Brust but Nigel Hayes will become a college superstar and highly rated Bronson Koenig and Vitto Brown become sophomores and rotation players.

San Diego St- Return everyone but Xavier Thames and Josh Davis, including the next Kawahi Leonard/ Jamal Franklin in Winston Shephhard. Former top 30 recruits Dakari Allen and Dwayne Polee take on bigger roles. Incoming recruits are 5 * Malik Pope, top 50 Zylan Cheatham and top 100 Trey Zell.

    Syracuse- Depends on who returns

Villanova- Return everyone but James Bell and bring in two top 100 wings

It isn’t that UNC being top 5 is absurb but the guy above said "at worst" which is kind of looney…

That’s true no way UNC is at worst Top 5 it’ll take Mcadoo coming back and guys leaving from the teams above them for UNC to get into the top 5.
