MalcolmxParticipantToday I got to see a bunch of top high school players and future Nba picks up close and personal at the Bigstrickclassic. Today was just a scrimmage and warm up for the players, tomorrow is the actual game. I have watch full games of Kelly Oubre on Television as well as on ihigh.com. I am fully aware that he had a stellar summer with numerous write ups on Espn,scout.com and rivals.com. Also this site had wrote about him as one of the top prospects in 2014 class at Lebron camp, but all the write up’s still don’t do justice for just how good he is now and how good he can possibly get. Let me start by saying he is all of 6’7 in shoes.I was just a few feet away from him on a few occasions today. Has good length and decent strength but could add more muscle. He is really bouncy especially off of one foot and has great straight line speed. His game is silky smooth. He has a good handle for 6’7 that should continue to improved. He also can post up and turn over his right shoulder. He drops some dimes to cutters along the baseline and open shooters. His best skill though is his jumpshot. He his jumpshots in every way imaginable.Off the dribble to the left or right side. Spot up 3’s and transition 3’s. His stroke is a thing of beauty and he has deep range. From what I’m hearing he will be a consensus top15 kid when everyone updates their rankings. And he deserves it or maybe even higher.
Other players in town for the Bigstick classic are. Stephen Zimmerman,Myles Turner,Ahmed Hill, Derrick Jones jr,Mustapha Heron, Calton Bragg. It was a loaded field but I was most impressed with Oubre.

bjcart53ParticipantGood stuff man. I have seen Kelly Oubre a few times recently and he has gotten much better since the beginning of last HS season. He is much stronger, his handle has gotten better and his stroke….well that has always been there. While he was a fair athlete before, it seems he has increased his athleticism significantly. He is definitely one to watch out for when the new rankings come out.

SiggyParticipantIt would not surprise me at all if he was consensus top 10 in his class after summer evals. The key to his improvement has been him slashing more instead of just being a shooter. The tools are there though. Reminds me a bit of a James Young, but Oubre’s tools could even be slightly better. Kelly’s got a nice feel for the game too. I was impressed by all those those Houston Hoops kids’ feel for the game.
Just curious OP, what is this setting like? Is it pretty much like any regular All-Star game or is it more like a real, competitive game? I’m guessing the former since some of the lines that I’ve seen are pretty eye popping.
Anybody else that stood out?
I really like both Ahmed Hill and Mustapha Heron. Any word on how they looked?0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/10/2013 - 9:47am #832377

Big_C_KUParticipantJerry Meyer has him #11 on his 247sports ratings and said he’s undervaluing him there as well. Looks like he’ll have him top 10. Loving the thought of him being a Kansas Jayhawk. Sounds like there’s a good chance he ends up there after his visit in October.

SiggyParticipantSo I saw some of the footage from this event and it looked like it was basically HS kids meets EBC. Once I heard the on-court MC, yelling sht like “Everybody clear out! OPERATE!” I immediately closed the video and lost interest.
